Alpinestars CR-X Drystar Riding Shoes

I've bought a pair, not cheap, but I don't think I've ever worn a pair of motorcycle boots as comfortable from the get go.

The quick release laces mean I can get them on and off in seconds. The TCX's I almost bought needed the old fashion laces mostly undoing all the way down to get them on/off. They're crazy light too.

They're probably crap in a crash, nothing that comfy could possible be protective as well.

They (J&S) only had my size in Camo, which I wasn't sure about at first, but they're growing on me...

I've always been impressed by Alpinestars footwear - the SMX6 boots are the comfiest boots/shoes bar none that I've ever worn. My 'daily riders' are the J6 ankle boots - the current pair is 5 years old and not even the laces have started to show any wear.

Also, I went to dig out my mx boots the other day from the garage and was disappointed to find that the plastic parts had dried out and cracked. I was tutting and sighing until I remembered that they're 18 years old. Fair enough.

I really like TCX's, but I couldn't find any shorter style boots that fit right. I've got another pair of Alpinestars short boots, but they're a bit bulky and getting on a bit, they look a bit naff compared to more recent stuff too.

I'm a fan of these type of boots in general. I haven't worn anything else on a bike since I bought my DXR boots.

Did you find the CR-X to be a narrow fitting? @KungFooBob I've usually had to go up a size or two with bike boots.

I've got some 20+ year old Alpinestars MX boots, they're in bin bag in the garage loft I think. I might have a look for them, see how they're holding up.

Mine were Vectors - these are the fellers, loads of plastic on them. Iast used them about 4 years ago but by now the plastic had just turned to chalk. Still good going!

I hope this isn't too forward but I quite like your wife's boots.

The more sporty looking A* ankle boots look REALLY narrow, but these are fine.

I really like the idea of the shorter boots/ankle boots, especially when it's bastard hot here and I'm only popping down to the valley. But I can't get passed the "how will they protect in an accident" question.

When I busted my shoulder, I only didn't smash my ankle because I had the 'big' boots on, Alpinestars SMX thingies. These little babies -



I destroyed the stitching on the top of the right boot and did some serious 'grazing' to the toe slider and side of the ankle. (I've still been wearing them, although I do have a barely worn pair to replace them )

The state of the bruising on my ankle when I eventually considered other bruises, whilst waiting for shoulder surgery, made me very very pleased I was wearing the race boots!

Still wish I was brave enough to wear the short ones like that, and probably should try some on to see exactly where the protection is!! (But I've turned into a bit of a wuss on somethings now )

My mates in the Coreze wear the short type like pic in the OP, but then he won't ride without a proper lower back protector whereas I don't think about anything more than whats in my jacket for back protection! Each to them's own! Would like comfy boots for riding AND walking tho

Having written that I won't ride in trainers, I did just that the other week when staying in Chambery near the school -

Never felt so uncomfortable on a bike! It was less than 1.5kms each way and through a trading estate, so not fast. But yeah - not keen!! LOL LOL

Having broken my foot by dropping a VFR on it in the middle of France I am reluctant to wear anything but substantial boots.

Mine probably saved a worse injury, I only broke 3 bones, but also kept it all together so I could ride home.

I've worn them pretty much non-stop for the last two days.

Still comfy.

I'm pretty sure Ill get to test the waterproofing soon.

They're deffo waterproof!

More so than my 15+ year old A* Andes v1 textiles.
