For what little I know, the piece you posted as a close up looks to have copper wire running in it. Some sort of reinforced rubber? Is there anything within the engine that has something made of such a material

The piece I posted with what looks like wire running in it was from someone else's bike ,he races it & it's the only piece of broken plastic I''ve seen in a SV motor.He races that bike & says that it's still running.Those 2 pieces that were in my oil drain tub looked like a very hard plastic as they were covered in oil.The mechanic has a good reputation & says he's seen it before so I'll go with his opinion.

Not visited the Holly Bush in Derbys? Seeing as I still have this SV it's time for a update.
Much to everyones surprise I agreed to sell the bike to one of my mates,he should have picked it up last week but changed his mind when a Honda 400/4 from the mid 90's came up.He'd owned one in the past & got nostalgic for another one.I told him I was happy with the decision as I'd had sellers remorse since I agreed to sell the SV & my mates all wondered why I was selling it.
So in the last week it's had a new Michelin on the rear,coolant change & a new chain & sprocket kit fitted.
The coolant that I drained was a green colour & there was no rust or anything in there so I refilled it with Halfords finest,it's got the OAT stuff in there.

I had to use a piece of garden hose to fill the radiator,but I didn't have to strip any of the bodywork

I wasn't as lucky with the expansion tank I had to remove the side panels,take off the riders seat & lift the tank up to get access to the tank..
I've now owned this bike for 4 years & it's the first time I've changed the coolant,how often do you all change your coolant?

I've not done a coolant change on mine, was going to get it done when I get the valves done probably next year. I've owned the bike since Jan 22.

The bike's done just over 20,000 miles,it's my Winter hack bike so it's seen some crappy weather & the chain was looking worse for wear..
I ordered JT sprockets & a DID Gold X ring chain.
There was a load of goo behind the sprocket cover,but I was more concerned with the clutch release mechanism being in the way of the front sprocket.I took the mechanism off the bike so that we could get my mates air gun on the sprocket nut.As someone who back in the day could spend a few hours with a socket,long bar & a piece of 4x4 through the back wheel I still struggle to believe how easy it is to gun the nut off!

Front sprocket was past its best..

Drivetrain now looks all shiny & new

The next task is to get the axle sliders & axle nut refinished.I'm wondering about getting them zinc plated or powder coated,anyone got an idea or where to send them to?
EDIT; I've just been on Fowlers site & the Axle sliders are £14.95 each so I'll get around to ordering 2 new ones
