A levels

Post by Nordboy »

Well, the stress of the last few months has now gone for now. Baby Nordboy has got the results she needed to get into her first choice Uni to study Modern languages, French and Spanish.

Very relieved for now, it's been bloody horrendous.

Well done.

I remember the Gremlinette having a meltdown as one grade was lower than predicted, but then suddenly realising she could still the uni of choice and going from despair to elation.

What next? Off to uni?

Yep, Exeter Uni was her first choice, so off there.

Most of my work is for academic research so it’s pretty much a given that I’ll be the thickest person anyone at work meets!😞

My choice too (well - they're they only one that would have me.... :D )

Nice part of the world, lots of pubs, nightlife etc (hopefully it hasn't changed that much... )

If she's doing on campus accommodation, (Halls of residence), then Mardon is the best: it's the smallest, so you get to know everyone more easily. (well - that was my experience).

There is no incentive for the education authorities to give poor marks.

There's an awful lot of universities that need bums on seats, regardless of A level results.

Students, don’t worry about your A-level exam results, in 20 years’ time you’ll be more worried about:
1. Not being able to move your neck for half a day because you slept a bit funny
2. Hoping any event you attend has adequate seating
3. Staying in for parcels with a delivery window of “between 6am and 10pm” (and they might not come at all)
4. Something silly and embarrassing that you said 20 years ago
5. All your teaspoons going missing. Where do they go?!
6. Trying to kick a ball back to a random young person in the park without falling over
7. Finding it exciting to look at sheds at the garden centre
8. Searching for the perfect hoover
9. Hairs: grey ones/ones now growing from your ears/receding ones
10. The fact you can’t bend down without making a loud groaning noise

I actually had to help Mrs D find her GCSE and A level certificates for a job application recently. She left school in 2002 :D

Apparently "it's been more than 20 years" wasn't sufficient argument.

FYI, new certificates cost >£100! Luckily we still have them.

I never got mine & have never been asked to produce them. I did attempt to get my C&G certs, but they changed the numbering system & I got nowhere.

I used to work in an office where, apart from a couple of 'admins', I was the only one without a degree, Masters, PhD. There was even a Professor.

Horse, HTC Mechanical & Production Engineering.

I was lucky to even get an interview!

I got a U and a F in my A levels. I could have got A* in playing cards and lying in.
"Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"
"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."
