Handguards on MTBs

Post by Le_Fromage_Grande »

I like riding overgrown single track trails on my EMTB, I'm thinking of fitting some Acerbis handguards as I don't like my hands and brake levers being attacked by bushes, anybody got any experience of hand guards on mountain bikes?
I appreciate the thought of this will probably annoy Weeksy

I've had a look, I'll probably buy the Acerbis ones, in orange and black, but I was interested to see if anyone else had any experience of them or another brand - the brake guard thread reminded me that I was missing them on a mountain bike.

There is a company doing MTB specific ones - but I can remember who it is. If I find the link I will post it.

I am still very much a clockwork rider - but haven’t really found a need for hand guards ....

I saw the AVS ones, but thought they were expensive, when I had trail bikes the best handguards were the very cheap Polisport ones, I tried UFO and Acerbis ones and neither were very good, they fell apart with the treatment I gave them.

If you ride wide trails I don't think you'd ever consider handguards, but most of my riding is on narrow paths which get over grown I summer with brambles and thorns, this is my choice btw, as I enjoy this type of riding.

Nothing wrong with riding tight single track - I love that stuff. I do use wide bars - but I just were decent gloves TBH
