Toilets!
At a business training course, one of the company buildings I've never been to before.
My first experience of 3 different toilet choices - male, female or gender neutral, I'm actually surprised its a thing. Being an inquisitive type I felt the need to sample, same a ladies so why bother????

I went to a meeting at Amazon in London a few years back, all the bogs were mixed sex, just like on Ally McBeal!

Was in krakow a while back and most of the toilets in the bars were mixed sex. We seem to make a bigger deal of it here.

Local theatre has separate downstairs (gents has a row of urinals, I presume the ladies doesn't).

I stayed in a trendy, read naff, hotel in Derby a few years back. The toilet doors were marked with football or a shopping bag. Being as I prefer shopping to football I was tempted to use the latter.

I was told I was 'disgusting' at the Ally Pally a few years back for going into the gender-neutral loos.
At the Southwark Playhouse they've made the traditional ladies and gents gender neutral. Many of the ladies who availed themselves of the old gent's in there were impressed with the lack of a queue.

Re: Toilets!
Sounds like a problem just for you cosmopolitan fannies. I've never seen a sniff of a mention of a gender neutral toilet over here - it's hard enough to get people to use any toilet, a large proportion is al fresco waving it at the countryside stuff - men, women and the inbetweenies..

Re: Toilets!
Before I had a hot poker shoved up my Jap-eye, I was going every half an hour. At the Southwark Playhouse I'd availed myself of a few pints of local beer before curtain-up: big mistake. Being an arty theatre, it didn't have a stage, per se, just the floor and some rows of raised seating and I was stuck on the end. 30 mins in, my bladder was full to bursting. I figured I could make it the interval, but in the end nature got the better of me and I had to do that shuffle of shame along the seats, meaning everybody had to get up, like a tutting Mexican wave. Then I had to do the crouching walk virtually through the cast, and then run to the nearest loos, which used to be the ladies. Obviously no urinals. Halfway through my long, painful piss, in troop all the ladies as the fucking interval occurred about 30 seconds after my exit. Bloody typical, but at least I avoided the queues.MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 10:44 am Go before you leave, saves having to fanny about in public bogs.
The look of surprise on their faces as I strode out of the cubicle and stood between them washing my hands was a sight to behold.

Re: Toilets!
I've got away with using the ladies lavs (by mistake, honest!) when I was younger and more beautiful - nobody really minded. And I've seen the convese happen when lady facilities have been out-of-action for cleaning etc. On the whole it's a bit of a fib that the fairer sex get better lavvy facilities or treat them any better - ladies seem just of capable of shitting straight up the wall as blokes. They're not all in there under soft lights, swapping bras and making themselves up like in the filums.
So segregation is just to keep the sex pests away? I can see why this might be desirable in a Cardiff nightclub on a Saturday night, but everywhere else?

A mate and I often used to use the gents at places where the queues for the ladies were sooooo long!! Raised a few eyebrows with the guys at the urinals when we took it in turns to stroll in to use the cubicle!!

Re: Toilets!
Wouldn't bother me, at all, other than the fact that you ladies take waaaay longer to take a whazz than us blokes. Therefore, you'd be bringing the queues to our loos, and that would be counterintuitive.Noggin wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 2:22 pmgremlin wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 10:28 amI was told I was 'disgusting' at the Ally Pally a few years back for going into the gender-neutral loos.

One benefit of mixed cubicles in the work environment woudl be a reduction in office affairs, I reckon. To hear the person you've had a crush on for 6 months suddenly drop their guts and stink the place out would kill most infatuations.

Re: Toilets!
A place we eat and drink at in Colchester has had mixed toilet cubicles for years but never made a big thing about it, just now places seem to be insisting on 3 different labels.

I think its women who dislike it more. Most men dont give a damn. But deffo a British thing as we've seen it for years in France, with urinals for the men but the sit downeries are for anyone. My wife is very uncomfortable about mixed bogs and would avoid them unless she absolutely had to go.

We've got an any gender toilet at work, and an any gender person to use it, I like to do particularly smelly loos in it.

Re: Toilets!
I would like to apologise to the people of Augher for...
A. Abandoning a truck in the middle of the town.
and
B. Stinking the public toilets out so bad a farmer walked in, exclaimed "Jesus Christ the night, something's died in here." and beat a hasty retreat.
In my defence, the tuna salad I got in the Eurospar tasted a bit gamey....

No all womens !! But it is very much a British thing for sure.Taipan wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 7:01 pm I think its women who dislike it more. Most men dont give a damn. In a (reasonably alcohol fuelled on their part) conversation on Weds night, someone stood up and said "je vais pisser". It's always surprised me that the French just say I'm going to piss/pee or poo (kaka!!).
But - they are really surprised at the Brits (in general) not being comfortable with the bisous or using "I'm going to the loo/toilet" instead of the more frank French version. They laughed because in other ways the Brits are seriously up front about sex, dressing sexually etc, but the little comments embarrass us!! And then there's shared toilets
