There's a good reason why they have a dead man switch and no throttle lock!

My 9" angle grinder is about 15 years old and doesn't have soft start - one of the reasons it makes me nervous when using it. It's also a heavy bloody thing. Are newer ones that much better? It's the torque on the Metabo die grinder that used to scare me (plus the fact I normally used it with a carbide burr). I sold it a while back and now use a much more manageable Aldi/Lidl cheapie.

Interestingly, the blurb on the webshite says it's pre-drilled, but it's not.

TBF It's so small and under powered that it's not going to fling itself off the bench.

I screw my bench grinders* to a piece of plywood and clamp them to the bench as needed.

*Wire wheel and really rough stone. Fine stone and green stone for HSS and carbide lathe tools. Double ended polisher.

Aye, mine kind of ambles about slowly when it's ramping up and slowing down as it hits its natural frequency but its fairly steady at full speed.

Seems alright, it's much smaller than your typical bench grinder. It doesn't feel like it's going to explode at full speed. The grinding wheel has a metal guard where as the polishing wheel has a plastic guard. The Flexi tool thing threw me a bit because where it attaches is reverse thread.

A LH thread is usual on that end of a double ended grinder.

The flexi drive looks useful, I've not seen one designed in to a normal grinder before.

If anyone else wants a £25 bench grinder (should be £50)....I've got one and it's fine.

I can't see why you'd need 2 grinding discs.
I changed mine many years ago to have a spinny wire brush thingy. I use it all the time.
