"New Posts" bug hunting
On advice from one of the development team I have made a change to one file of the software. Its not going to be the solution, but may help point us in the right direction.
Please check the "New Posts" in the way you always did and report back if you find the same issue.
Thanks

That's interesting @Skub what browser and device type ?
I'm on chrome on both laptop and phone and have the issue. But i can swap to Firefox for testing if needed.

I didn't when I reported the theme issue, but the disparity between new and unread posts started happening for me yesterday and persists today on 2 Windows machines running Chrome

Re: "New Posts" bug hunting
I use both Mobile (Android) and Laptop (Ubuntu) and I tend to keep myself logged in on both. Using Chrome in both OSes. I don't know if it makes any difference but I also often have more than 1 tab open for days (especially on mobile)
So - this morning I first looked at "New posts" on the mobile, a nice full page, about 20 or so threads to choose from.
Fired up the laptop at my desk and re-opening the Chrome browser: only 2 threads in New Posts.
I don't know how the db/php works, but it seems that possibly the login session for the same user account on each browser refreshes the New Posts cutoff timestamp much more ferociously than before. Perhaps the login session is being refreshed more often?

Re: "New Posts" bug hunting
OK so i had a nice list going in Firefox then BOOM, next press of new posts and the list is empty.
So it's not a browser specific issue.

Switching back and forth between laptop and mobile.... I seem to be getting the same list (I'm not logging in and out though)

Re: "New Posts" bug hunting
Opera on a Mac and Chrome on android. The 'no new posts to show' thing has happened, but it was yonks ago,not after the recent update. It always seemed to fix itself back then after I used 'unread posts' for a while. Maybe it's something that has always lurked in the software?

Re: "New Posts" bug hunting
Thats great news, but I'll leave the temporary change in place for a few more hours just to check before I report back to the Development team 9assuming its still working correctly that is)

Re: "New Posts" bug hunting
Well, it certainly appears that the 'try this and see if it works' work-a-round has done what was hoped for. I have reported back to the Development team and hopefully they will come up with a validated fix soon.

Following your responses the development team have come up with the first official fix, which I have uploaded just now.
Please can you report your findings as before.

Re: "New Posts" bug hunting
Seems ok so far this morning.
I think it seems to be showing a list of threads which have a post within the last 12 hours, (which I think was the old behaviour),
rather than: a list of threads with a new post since the current user was last seen on the site (which was the "new" behaviour and reduced the result list down to almost nothing).
The current behaviour (last 12 hours) seems good, I'd assume that if a user was offline for more than 12 hours, then the result list would show "Threads with a post since the user was last active" (because otherwise the user would miss out on anything older than 12 hours old).
