Hot Hot HOT!!!
What do you guys that ride in HOT weather wear?
I've given up on my textile jacket and am wearing a kevlar lined hoodie. It's not much cooler but definitely less 'boil in the bag biker' than the textile one
I've been wearing normal jeans. I have some BikersParadise kevlar lined jeans but damn they are soooo hot. I had on my 'thinnest' jeans today and even then the sun felt like it was burning my legs - then add the heat from the bike on the other parts of my legs
Soooo - what do you wear? Anyone wear a mesh type thingy with armour or does that disintegrate on contact with the road? Not planning to hit the road TBF, but much more likely if I'm dying of heat!!

Re: Hot Hot HOT!!!
I got a Knox 'undershirt' earlier this year. It's been great!
https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorc ... rod/792017
I originally planned on using it to wear normal jackets, tops over it but I've found that at anything above 16-17 degrees it's fine on its own with a long sleeved tee under it and on warm days (for England....) it's basically no there with a t-shirt under it.
Still glad I unpicked the front pockets - and am considering doing the same with the back one, too. I can't really access it practically. Get the normal one without pockets.

I know I have inbuilt airbags, but I think I'd be arrested if I rode in just a pair of shorts

Hot weather?
A 'hot' day is when I don't plug in my heated gear, but still have the thermal lining in.

I may see if I can find one in a shop at some point (can't buy one this summer, but would like to for next) to see if an L does actually do up!! LOL
Thank you

Re: Hot Hot HOT!!!
Woohooo found one But only small/skinny women need hot weather gear I mean, they are sold out anyway, but that's the biggest size FFS!!MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 8:08 pmYes https://www.jtsbikerclothing.com/motorc ... ket/black/
EDIT: found one on a french site in the next size up - which should work!! Just checking to see if I won the lotto enough to buy one
TBF, I'm a bit meh about that too, just pre-empting the comment from anyone else!
In all honesty we've not had a lot here. But in previous years I've only ridden a few times and not very far. This year, in the last couple of weeks, I've ridden further when it's sunny and the types of roads I've been on have needed more effort. That combined with the temperatures (it's not 'that' hot yet have meant that I've been really surprised at just how hot I've been
Can't see a ladies a version but at least they do better sizes in the other types of jackets
I guess there are similar trews - as in mesh/armour ones? I'd happily chuck a skirt in a tankbag/top box to chuck on if stopped for a while, but jeans aren't so bad I guess. Just very surprised at just how hot my legs were yesterday

Re: Hot Hot HOT!!!
I find textiles fine, just make sure they have plenty of vents when buying.

Re: Hot Hot HOT!!!
My textile jacket is full on proper boil in the bag job sadly. Even with the vents open The hoodie is better even tho it's heavier, it seems to be more breathable without vents!
But given that usually here the summer is pretty hot, it's probably worth looking at mesh stuff

Re: Hot Hot HOT!!!
I found with the mesh / vented jackets that it needs to be a slightly loose fit, if you're jammed in there you just block the mesh / vents and they do nothing to flow air around you.

Re: Hot Hot HOT!!!
I can't recall the exact name but I've got an alpinestars air textile jacket. I wear it for about 6 months of the year and it does a great job in the heat with all the vents open. I wouldn't wear normal jeans, seen the damage a light spill can cause and don't fancy the resulting extended recoup time. I wear RST kevlar jeans and really rate them.

Re: Hot Hot HOT!!!
Before next summer I will have to have a proper look around and find something that works better than what I have (I need to update all my kit anyway!!)
I never advocate riding in normal jeans to anyone. It's a choice I've made simply because I've been lucky in the accidents I've had and apart from needing 5 stitches in each knee (to add to all the childhood cycling scars) I've not had any major issues from wearing them.
The main reason has always been that I'm not the shape of a biker according to manufacturers and I've always struggled to find anything to fit and be comfortable. Those are my main requirements for any kit. Jackets are a smidge easier, but still not perfect (probably why I'm still not happy with my gear). I've always got a really good helmet and boots, a jacket that fits as well as poss (and now has armour in that won't smash my shoulder!). Gloves are another things I struggle with - wide hands but short fingers
But it does seem that manufacturers are generally getting better at sizing or ability to adjust, so I'm hoping to do better for next summer!! (And might be a smidge smaller so it might be easier to get stuff that is better, maybe!)

Re: Hot Hot HOT!!!
When riding in France I use a Knox Urbane Pro armoured. ventilated jacket and it's great. The good news is they do a women's version, although I'm not sure what their sizing is like. They do go up to 3XL, so hopefully you could find one to suit.

The gurl in the photo is tall, fairly skinny and not what you'd call representative...
For the bottom half I wear kevlar lined jeans and Knox Action pro armoured leggings (unless it's really scorchio, when it's just jeans). The leggings are unisex, and also go up to 3XL.
