How many WFH ?

Post by weeksy »

Just a random poll here...

I'm just curious really in relation to Pietins post about bike bays being empty.

When I'm working it's away from home but it's not regular.

None of it is doable from home nor office based.

Started working from home since Covid and never went back in. Mainly because I switched jobs during lockdown and my new (4 years now) job is mainly working with people in the States.

My employer is shit scared of forcing people back into the office, but has asked staff to be in the office 'the majority of the time'. On the back of this, I usually do 3/4 days in the office, WFH a day or two a week, depending more on Mrs. G.'s diary, in order to make sure the dog is looked after during the day.

Was WfH as soon as Boris suggested it. Never went back apart from odd days.

I've WFH for more than 15 years (I was literally the only one for years): initially part-time; then full-time other than very occasional HQ visits; since COVID 100%. We no longer have a local HQ. Our primary HQ is on a different continent and bums-on-seats are minimal - if they don't NEED to be there, they aren't.

For our organisation this is the new normal - we recruit without giving a toss where candidates are located, so business premises are largely irrelevant. I imagine they will go or be reduced in footprint. Communication and collaboration tools have killed the need for me to be sat near colleagues (or breathe their fumes  )

Ditto,
Started out with 2 days at home, then after an incident increased to 3 days, then covid increased it to 4 days at home, and here I sit

Pre Covid I used to do 2 WFH and 3 days in the office.

Since Covid it's 4 days WFH and 1 day in the office most of the time.

Original hybrid working arrangements after covid were 3/2. 3 on site, 2 from home, but I changed it to 4/1 as I prefer being on site. We now have elderly dependants and a French Bulldog who can get destructive with "separation anxiety" , so I switched back to 3/2.

3 home, 2 at the work. Seems to go pretty well.

Loads of our guys still work 5 days on site by choice, is typically the younger guys who house share and hence don't have space for an office at home. Or people doing more practical stuff.

I would have come to work for this company ages ago but it's a longish commute, Covid and WFH made the idea much more tenable. Funnily enough shortly after I joined my boss said "If I'd known the commute was what was keeping you away we'd have let you WFH all along!".

Prior to Covid WFH two days out of three, in office one day a week, mainly because the canteen did roast pork dinners on Wednesday. Once Covid struck I was full-time WFH until I made the executive decision to retire in July 2020. My retirement 'do' was a Zoom call, FFS...

Cant see send me your garden option taking of. Window box might work but TBH WFH would drive me round the bend as much as office work. Much prefer being outdoors.
