Re: When is a day off not a day off
Many moons ago the 'national company' i worked for refused a pay rise request, so a strike was voted for.Jody wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 10:52 amMaybe they can, but with less than 2 months of the contract left, I can't see people jumping at the chance? So guessing if you start playing hardball with them, they'll fuck you off. Pretty sure they could parachute someone in at very short notice to cover for you.
The company brought managers, deputy's, secretaries with psv licenses, basically anybody who could drive a bus, put them up in hotels etc.
They were prepared to spend 100s of thousands not to be seen to give in to 'unreasonable' pay demands*.
They'll probably bring in a spare manager to cover for the end of the season.
*till operators at lidl were being paid more!
Strike didn't work, but a couple of mass sick days (can't think who thought that one up ) did.

Re: When is a day off not a day off
The out come to this is:
1) They agree and pay you
2) They don't agree with you and maintain their position
3) They agree with you - but suddenly at the end of a poor season you may be let go
How much is the battle really worth fighting ? And only you can decide that?
If they don't agree to you demands , what are you going to do?

That might have been tongue in cheek. I've spent decades avoiding being promoted, or even having a proper job.

1) They agree and pay you That would be great
2) They don't agree with you and maintain their position I think that would be foolish, but I need to see what the legal people say tomorrow before I can really say.
3) They agree with you - but suddenly at the end of a poor season you may be let go right now it feels like they want me to stay and they want me back next year. I have no desire to return next year. I probably would have walked already. However I would head to the UK, I'm only allowed in the UK for 90 days (French reg car) and I normally head back to France for the ski season around 4/5 December.
How much is the battle really worth fighting ? And only you can decide that? Yep, I understand. It's getting to be about principle, I know they've lied to people in the past about their job roles " You're going to be on reception " is what they are told but when they get to site it's " you do reception 1 day per week, the rest of the week, you are cleaning". Just imagine if me complaining to the legals is the straw that breaks, the company face an investigation and as a result, they can never pull this trick on anyone ever again. I'd feel pretty good about that, even if it cost me my job
If they don't agree to you demands , what are you going to do? They only want to pay for minimum wage Jody, that's what they get. I don't care if the 'scores' drop.

6 months for foreign registered vehicles.
But then you run into French residency issues if you spend (afaik) 162 days away!

Re: When is a day off not a day off
Well, today I met with an agent from France Travail.
Succinctly....
No, it's not OK to offer one job and deliver another.
The contract you have is not suitable for the job.
They should have took your offer of 5 hours a week. I recommend demanding 5 hours every week and 10 hours during peak season.
It's REALLY REALLY not OK to not record your hours properly, even if it's an accident, but this doesn't look like an accident.
If they don't accept, you can take them to a tribunal, it's long winded and a PITA but you will win.
This is nothing like the first time I've had someone in my office because of problems with this company.
So I came home, drafted an email and sent it to the agent, hopeful that she'll proof read it for me.
Curiously someone called from the office today to see if the issue was settled. I explained that I had my meeting and an email would follow in due course.

I understood it was 90 days for UK vehicles in France and I assumed the opposite was true ??!!Sadlonelygit wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 9:44 pm 6 months for foreign registered vehicles.

It's only a month if you are a resident in France on uk plates! Which i've ignored in the past.Jody wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 5:35 pmI understood it was 90 days for UK vehicles in France and I assumed the opposite was true ??!!Sadlonelygit wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 9:44 pm 6 months for foreign registered vehicles.

90 days is the Schengen visit limit. However.....if you have a 6 month tourist visa, it allows you to stop in Schengen zone for 9 months.
This then offers the issue of having a vehicle away for 9 months. I have 'discovered' an Andorran entry/exit stamp, or just a dated receipt is enough to ally the fears of an inquisitive Gendarme who happens to know his onions. Most don't care as long as you have all your docs in order!

He's going the other way - French car in the UK. UK isn't in Schengen, so no idea what the limits are on that basis for a French resident with a French car in the uk??Sadlonelygit wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 1:02 pmAgain, six monthsJody wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 5:35 pmI understood it was 90 days for UK vehicles in France and I assumed the opposite was true ??!!Sadlonelygit wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 9:44 pm 6 months for foreign registered vehicles.

Re: When is a day off not a day off
@Jody - found this, so it seems that it is 6 months, as SLG says, but probably nothing to do with Schengen!!
If you're an EU , EEA or Swiss Citizen travelling to the UK for a short business trip, you may not need to apply for a visa. Under the UK 's new points-based immigration system, you can continue to visit the UK without applying for a visa. In most cases you can stay for up to 6 months.

I'm reasonably sure it will be the same as you but then depends what your insurance co says!!Jody wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 4:24 pmIt's not me that's the issue, Its's the French registered, French insured car that I'm concerned about!!Noggin wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 1:07 pm @Jody - found this, so it seems that it is 6 months, as SLG says, but probably nothing to do with Schengen!!
