Had this discussion the other month when I went visiting some friends. They, and all the french on the rideout, wear short boots - some look like trainers but 'apparently' they're bike footwear!!

I use these a lot with jeans. All day comfy on the bike,or walking. More bike friendly/less clumpy than my Altbergs.

I'm just being a bit over protective I guess. I've always had taller boots (higher?) for riding and, remembering the bruising and discomfort (minimal compared to the shoulder!) on my foot and ankle, I'm not convinced I wouldn't have had a broken ankle/leg as well if I'd had shorted ones like that

I don't mind walking around in mine, ok, not ideal in the current heat, but TBF, I go out to go riding and stop for coffee, very very rare I'll have to walk far in the boots - maybe around the supermarket for a quite top box sized top up!! LOL

These are my current boots (not the actual boots cos they's more damaged!) - bought another pair exactly the same, second hand but like new, that a friend is bringing back to resort with him, so will have some undamaged ones to wear soon




(I have really small feet for my height, so ankle boots are quite low!! But I can stand closer to the sink - before Yorick says anything!!)

These are my current boots

Alpinestars boots have always, well in more recent years, been a pain to wear with jeans/pants over the top - the bulbous blob at the top makes things tricky.

In fact none of the AS sponsored riders have their leathers over their boots, come to think of it.

I've always ridden in 'normal' jeans and I only buy bootcut jeans (well, occasionally straight, but they are still 'wide' legged!). So for the road, I've never had an issue with the AS boots

I can't remember what I did with my leathers - feels like a lifetime ago. But cos I have high heel wearer's calves, there really wouldn't be a lot of room in the boot for jeans or leathers!!

But the boots work for me and I'll not be on track/in leathers for a while So I'll just have to keep buying jeans that 'work'! (I won't be buying the road proof jeans till next year now, so it's only digging out info for future purchases really )

Just a quick word on those DRX boots... I don't see any CE certification for them - should be approved to EN13634 safety standard against which all motorcycle boots are now tested... if that's the case, they can be worn on a bike (caveat emptor), but not legally be sold as bike boots.

That's interesting. I note their boots either have CE in the name or not. And the ones that don't also don't mention the word motorcycle which is presumably deliberate. They just say leather boots for example

My DXR Sanata Cruz were sold as EU level 1
The label insided doea have an EU tag, a picture of a motorcycle , and a classification 1:1:1:2
But now Sportsbikeshop doesn't state that anymore
