We have literally hundreds upon hundreds of broken servers

It's an application called Crowdstrike that's caused the issue. Worldwide

Crowdstrike?

'CrowdStrike is a US-based American cybersecurity firm that helps companies manage their security in "IT environments" — that is, everything they use an internet connection to access. Its primary function is to protect companies and stop data breaches, ransomware and cyber attacks.'

Well, it seems to work a treat.

It's not a hard fix, we've fixed 200+ servers today. But it does take time for sure. 15-20 mins per box, we've got 7-8 people working on it from just our small infrastructure.

I'd imagine we've got 10,000 machines down company wide. Happily I don't need to fix all of them.

And, I'm leaving in an hour to go racing

Yonks ago, we had three PDP 11-34s (I think. Another elderly person may be able to confirm the numbering).

Regular 'preventative maintenance'.

Which regularly prevented them from working.

I'm logged on for ambulance calls. Except the despatch system isn't working correctly.
