The exhaust looks wrong. Otherwise, it's not particularly awful. :D

(It also gave me the flashback horrors of the experience of owning a BSA A7).

If you thought the A7 was bad rest assured the A65 was worse. I quite liked my burbling A10 and it took me 100s of miles with, as I found out later, broken piston rings. It was also a bit lop-sided as a result of previous sidecar use!

Quite why anyone would use that A65 engine in a special is beyond me but I assume it came with the frame (1972 oil in frame?) !

I don't dislike it, but there's something about it that doesn't sit right with me?

Needs a Spitfire tank the Lightning tank is to blobby.

I have an irrational love of A65s despite knowing how shit they are.

When I was in my early teens (early/mid 90's) my dad restored a '63 A65 Star twin and became a born again biker (he bought a brand new NTV650 too)

I've quite a soft spot for the A65... even if I did nearly brake my toe trying to change gear (with the rear brake).

Need more detail, how the heck did you break your toe? You must put some serious force into your gear changes!

It was kind of a joke.

I had to ride it to the village show, half a mile at most. I'd only ever ridden bikes with a left hand gear change, so I tired to change up with my left foot in a pair of cons.
