Ducati Diavel
Thinking of getting one.
Has anyone here owned one?
Any thoughts ? What to look out for etc?
Going to the local Ducati garage this afternoon and am tempted by one they’ve got
Thanks

Re: Ducati Diavel
I've not... but i get the impression they're bloody awesome from owners and way better handling than you'd expect for a lowish bike with a massive rear tyre.

Re: Ducati Diavel
Yup, had mine since 2011. It’s a Gen 1 1200. It is the comfortable version of a sports bike . Plenty of grunt and handles extremely well. (Though I was owned by a 900ss last night as driving like a girl)
On the early one the suspension was rubbish - I have replaced mine.
Gen 2 went to twin spark
They brought out a Diavel x with forward controls - mainly for the folks who want a Harley.
They are fast enough - though the 162 BHP may be optimistic. The looks have got better as the model has progressed. Mine definitely has looks only a mother could love.
You are welcome to pop down and try it

Re: Ducati Diavel
I have been hankering after a 999 - for some reason.
But 30 mins on the Diavel knocked that idea into a cocked hat.
It is the bike that Buell should have built

Re: Ducati Diavel
I haven't owned one, but if I'd had a garage (or somewhere to keep it) at the current place, I would have.
I'd say get one bought ASAP. I bet the kids will love it.

Re: Ducati Diavel
Isn't the Diavel essentially what the V-Max always dreamed of being?

I never road a V Max TBHRockburner wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 3:08 pm Isn't the Diavel essentially what the V-Max always dreamed of being?
You had the Suzuki B King and the Yamaha MT 01 - both trying to be a realible, modern Buell.
The the Diavel is an extremely competent bike - even track days. The only issue I had is that riding to Wales and back, the seat was uncomfortable ( but all seats are) and it would have been nice to have some sort of cruise control.
TBF, you don't even have to tell them just turn up in an Orange 911, with a Dragster t shirt on

I really like the Diavel
Maybe that makes me gay, who knows. I do have some pink tortoiseshell spectacles.

Re: Ducati Diavel
The looks of the Drivel don't do anything for me. My interactions with them in the canyons lead me to believe that the owners think their top speed is about 60mph. That applies to most LA area Ducati owners though, not just the Drivel guys.

The local fairground owner bloke has one, that put me off a bit from a 'this is cool' kind of thing.

Re: Ducati Diavel
I’d never heard of the Diavel X before.
I have forward gear on the Harley- and like it, so I guess the X
Was pissing down today- so no test ride. I don’t even know if they have the X.
Don’t fancy spending £47477474747k on aftermarket pipes - so keen to see if I can get a deal.
New /nearly new fine.
Not bothered about the gay image. Have you seen my moustache?

Re: Ducati Diavel
They're a strange looking motorcycle, a modern V-Max / Sabre / Eliminator, but the looks are the only reason I can see for not getting one.

Re: Ducati Diavel
If I was in the meerkat for that kind of bike, I think I'd rather the (much slower) HD XR1200X, but Docca's already itched that Harley itch.
