It’s why I stopped watching football. Tonight hasn’t encouraged me to watch more - although the women’s game seems to be ‘cleaner’ so I might be persuaded! Sad really cos I did really love football when I was younger (wasn’t too bad at playing!!) but not anymore sadly ☹️☹️

A mate just said, in response to all the holding etc “well, it is a contact sport” !!!! I’m pretty sure that’s rugby!! 🤣🤣🤣

After the game I wasn't too sad. 2 major finals in 3 years and semi final of world cup.

So we headed back to the square to meet some pals. Was buzzing. Have English and half Spanish.

They were all chatting to us lot and not gloating and screaming.
If we'd have won the fans would have got shitfaced and sang all the same sings at full volume.

So I chatted to the Spanish and embraced their victory.

As I walked back to the car it was good to see all the red/orange fans happy
Every car was screaming their horns and carnival atmosphere

Helluva queue at taxi rank as the drivers would all be watching the footy :obscene-birdiedoublered:

Well, I think the best team won the tournament, which is how it should be. ⚽️👍

England started the competition awful. However I think they gave the final a good effort but best team won. To be honest as a lifelong England supporter there was much to criticise but we've managed to reach 2 finals and a semi in the last 3 tournaments which going back 10 years I'd never have imagined so can't be unhappy with that.

Kane is a proper jinx though so I'm blaming him! He'd come second in a one horse race.

I watched the game in the local market square with about a thousand others.

No trouble, ever. Some dodgy songs (the 10 German Bombers song got rinsed )

Best team in the tournament won. I’m pleased we made the final but can’t help think with a more attacking minded manager we would have owned it.

Good euros overall.

On to the olympics. I’ve got semi final tickets for the football in Marseille. Obviously no idea who is playing yet - but should be fun.

We were away the campervan so was going to stroll into the town and watch it in a pub. Local said to go to the community centre so we did. Brilliant place to watch it as it had great family atmosphere and loads of people with their own names on England shirts! They even laid on some free snacks! Shame about the outcome but it was a deserved win for Spain. Still stoked we made the final!

Saxe-Coburg-Gotha takes up too much space on the jersey.

Well, he's gone. He's probably the most successful England manager in last 50 years.

In 25 tournaments since 1966 before Southgate took over in 2016, England won seven knockout games in total. Under Southgate, England won nine such matches.

He's gonna put his feet up. Wonder who's next?

Wonder if shirts with velcro seams are banned in football?

I'm glad Southgate has gone, he has divided fans with his coaching style, and I hated his negativity, never pushing for a second goal, playing his favourites rather than playing the in form players.

It seems judging success now includes coming second. And no one remembers who came second.

Still, I see the names Lampard, Potter and Gerrard put forward to take over. Things can go from bad to worse, and here was me looking forward to supporting England again post-Southgate.
