Friday thread, the how many Porsches will we have today

Post by weeksy »

I'm guessing 24 in todays threads :D

Fri. WFH and chilling. Sorting the van out and a beer this evening.
Sat. Early start and up to North Wales to Dyfi bike park. A day of insanity and then OK Diner and to another field in FoD for sleeping.
Sun. Race day for the boy, only a Regional race for this one, but some decent riders present.

Are you putting a Porsche badge on it though for forum pics ?

Nothing exciting here as ever. Just the usual house and shed stuff.

None of it will be Porsche related. The only brand brand name I can drop is Mirach, I've to move a 100-5 about the place. It's orange but has no cup holders.

Blue and a Hyundai badge for me, but does have 2 cup holders (It's my lawnmower!) - cup holder design is flawed though, if beer or Pepsi placed in them it bubbles up due to the vibes and spills over

Friday, looks like the dog walk today will be in the rain, but of tidying up then ride to work for a 12 hour night shift.

Sat, a bit of sleep before a lazy afternoon(hopefully)
Sun, dog walk, MTB and maybe fitting a new transmission to the Ebike as the XD cassette driver arrived last week).

No Porsche content I’m afraid.

Work
Work
Change fuel tank on the bus

Was going to collect a Divvy 900 with hard luggage but decided agents it. Wife has lost interest in doing weekend trips away on a bike so it would probably end up just getting used for a few hours on a Sunday and collecting dust the rest of the week.

WFH today and sneaking out for a haircut this morning. Debating whether to cook for step dad tonight or go out somewhere for dinner.
Tomorrow, off in the campervan for a couple of days. Its my Sisters birthday next week but we're teaming up with her and her partner for a birthday weekend. Weather looks crap but we have coats and will do lots of long beach walks with the dogs and will still cook outside etc.

2nd Physio appointment this pm - previous instructions and advice haven't improved matters so hoping for a new approach.

Sat and Sunday will very much depend on the outcome from today as riding either the MTB or Guzzi requires a fair dollop of painkiller in advance :angry-cussingblack:

Today, it was peeing down this morning. Went for coffee and met a friend and her baby in my favourite cafe. She's interesting as speaks French with a SERIOUSLY strong Spanish accent - I really struggle to understand her :( :( But it's always interesting! LOL The boss and the girl that works in the cafe have asked me to speak english with them most days as they want to practice (well, mostly the boss). So today was the phrases "it's on me", "would you like another coffee/whatever on me", "how much do I owe you" and "how much did it cost" For the last two it's interesting talking about the differences of do and did - trying to explain english grammar (or even work it out!) when I last did grammar 40ish years ago is weird!!  The flip side is me learning the French versions that, when translated directly, just do not work!! LOL "C'est pour moi" (it's for me!!) & "que je te dois" (what I you must!) !!

Think I might be meeting a friend later, but not sure.

Tomorrow - need to start studying for the highway code in French, so hopefully find a sunny place to start reading (then need to find an online site that lets me practice the test because I really struggle to read in French but have to pass various tests including the highway code!). Need to meet with my boss to get some paperwork from him for my housing application and also get him to start to agree the process to buy my apartment (need that paperwork too!)

Sunday - heading to the valley to my mates shop for a sausage in a bun and a chelsea bun!! LOL Then meeting some peeps in a bar to watch a football match I'm really not interested in   Possibly spend some time looking at car options online too!

Yup, I've got the miseries

Work today, then take the dog for run before plasterboarding around two Velux windows, h’actually, one of them is a Keyline but heyho.

Tomorrow, pick up a length of skirting board, skim around windows and boxed in king rafters and purlings, which will hopefully see the end of plastering this room. Start the process of clearing out, sanding woodwork, doing any filling, fitting of skirting board and masking up the room ready for paint.

Sunday, usual domestic duties before more of the above, hopefully getting as far as a mist coat on the new plaster assuming it has all dried sufficiently before doing a tip run. Watch the football.*

No porsches for me either although I will hopefully get around to lubing the roof seals on the SLC.

*Son in law to be was at the semi final match, not sure he’s bothered coming home before the final even though he currently doesn’t have a ticket, like 1,000s of others in or travelling to Berlin / rest of Germany on Sunday. Last I heard from him was a very drunken voice note :D

Busy day in a good way.

Out on the Zed from 7am,then grass cutting for 2 gardens. Currently having lunch, then back to gardening. I'll probably drag out the H1 later in the day.

Saturday and Sunday are back to pish weather,so I doubt I'll do much apart from trying to watch some WSBK in between the poxy tennis.

WFH today, popped to the local car bodywork place at lunchtime to arrange to rectify what I did to the commuter (not a Porsche - the Focus Of Destiny) yesterday morning 😬
(It was early, I was driving somewhat 'exuberantly' on a local single track road which has recently been resurfaced, and upon meeting an oncoming vehicle I skidded on the new gravel and glanced it, in what would usually have been a wing mirror collision, but ended up as a small scratch/dent on the rear quarter instead. Oops 🤦)

Tomorrow - plastering prep, mow parents lawn
Sunday - plastering, and apparently there's a football match on...

Last night shift tonight. Got woken up early with my bean to cup machine arriving, first foray into being a coffee aficionado. Must admit it’s worth every penny, coffee came from Waveney which I think is someone on here.
Saturday, the F is arriving to spoil me as it’s my 65th next week.
Sunday, long long lie in while we plan the trip away in the caravan next week as part of my celebrations.
Monday, tidy up the garden before we go away, hopefully out on the bike for a bit.

Just been told one of my staff/mates has stage 4 prostate cancer. I’ve known him since we were 16, visiting him when we get back from hols to offer support, friendship and a shoulder to cry on if he wants it.
Suddenly feel my age for the first time!
Have fun all, go football!!

Day off today, so nowt
Tomorrow, fire up the smoker and introduce some cancer to some beef short ribs and a pork loin
Sunday, dunno
Monday, another day off, fit new indicators to wife's bike, swap out flasher relay, which is a bugger as the tank needs to come off, but I'm sure I'll be able to finagle it / balance it on a couple of blocks

Being at the Goodwood Festival of Speed all weekend, I can literally take pictures of dozens of Porsches. Could probably even get to sit in one, with my budget however, that’s as close to getting one as i’d manage.

I can dream a bit and then have to then wander back to the car park and my newly bought Mini Cooper S.

Enjoy. I would say pop by for a cuppa, but the traffic around Chi is atrocious these days, especially on Goodwood days.

Tomorrow we're supposed to be going to a family gathering up in London, via Aldershot, however: there are several issues with the roads in between, not least of which is the FoS, roadworks on the A27 between us and the A3, and the M25 weekend closure at the top end of the A23.

The only Porsche related elements of the weekend will be that if (if!) we take the car, it's a VW. (tenuous connection to Porsche at best...)

Sitting in Norfolk. It's wet, cold and windy - but then it always is in Norfolk
Just canned the idea of buying a 999 and decide I need to ride what I have already - other than being faster, sexier, handling better and better brake, it offers no real worl experience that the old Speed Triple. Other than less old blokes talking to you.
Here until Sunday morning with freinds and rellies - so went out eating last night, Norfolk north coast today, evening meal plans have been canned by the rain, so deciding want to do.
Saturday - more of the same and planning to hit Cromer.
Sunday early drive back to God's county.

They have/had a golf course at Cromer (may have just been 9 holes). Par 3, pitched they ball up......and watched as the wind hit it and carried it back over my head to land about 20m behind the tee. :D

Yup. Windy.
