Porsche Turbo S is literally the car that all other cars are measured by. Other manufacturers use it as a benchmark.

Meanwhile the Hawk Tuah model is out :D
(I’m sure you’ve all seen the meme)

There's really no need to remap a 911 Turbo to 780bhp :eh:

As above, it's the car virtually all others are judged against and that includes the power train. I can't imagine many half day tuning sessions are gonna improve on the OE settings. :obscene-birdiedoublered:

I agree, they're utterly mental fast anyway, although if it literally is just a remap then it would be tempting to do, just to see what it's like.
I wouldn't be buying go-faster parts and bolting them on, but an hour with a laptop and you get 780bhp and (presumably) monster torque, then I'm not sure I could resist.

My only complaint with the Turbo S that I drove was that it became a one trick pony pretty quickly because it's all about that power and it overshadows the rest of the car, which is awesome in it's own right, but the power dominates your senses. I immediately went from that to a bog standard Carrera 2 and it felt like such a better balanced car and I bought it on the spot - which turned out to be a mistake because it was boring, but straight from the Turbo S it felt like the sensible option that wasn't too demanding, but I should have spent more time trying others to find the Goldilocks version.

There are plenty of modifications that I could make to my 930, they've had decades of development but 300bhp is plenty in a 1989 car and I'm not going to tune it to get more power, I'm spending money on suspension and other mechanical stuff so it rides better and is (hopefully) reliable for the next few years, but the power is plenty.

The thing is, the power in a 911 is so well calibrated and integrated into everything it makes it super approachable. Indeed thats part of the criticism against them, they're too easy to go super duper fast in.

Just whacking on a load more boost upsets all that very careful and thoughtful German effort

Now they are, yes.

Just a few days ago I tested a 964 C2 that had been fitted with a 3.8L RSR engine and Ohlins suspension, an utterly gorgeous car and very nicely done, but it spun the rear wheels for fun. It was so well set up that it was very predictable and I drifted it at will without any issues, but I decided not to buy it even though the guy was selling it for less than it's really worth because it would be hard to live with on a daily basis and whilst it was predictable at my skill level at low speed I didn't fancy sliding it out at 80mph somewhere - and it would easily do that with 350bhp and about 1000kg, with all that weight over the back wheels.

I'm still gutted about it, I don't think I should post a picture of someone else's car that I didn't buy but it was drop-dead gorgeous and done very very well by a specialist place in Germany, but it would be a very demanding car to drive and you'd have to be 100% focussed and on the ball or it will kill you very quickly.

The new ones are a piece of piss with all the tech in them, but the older ones aren't called widow makers for nothing.

I agree. A standard Wraith is classier, but rich people need more exclusivity!

Rolls-Royce famously will do basically anything you want to a car you buy from them. Why the fuck would you give it to the tasteless muppets at Mansory to fuck about with? :D

I’ve been in car showrooms a lot recently looking at cars and I’ve been blown away by some of them, I wanted to take pictures but I felt a dick. There were dozens and dozens of Rolls Royces done up in incredible livery, floral patterns, weird cammo stuff, etc.

They can get very inventive, it was stuff that I couldn’t even dream up. Google can probably throw some examples up, it was extravagance that I’d really struggle to justify at any level.

Most were very low miles and the bloke told me some had been bought for a single occasion like a wedding and then punted on.
