Pistonheads did a "spotted" last year about this Gloriously 70s Orange Aston with silver leather. I really like it :obscene-birdiedoublered:

If he got it for £10 it wasn't really a loss of any description

Strange I suppose, but if he was offered easy money back and wasn't all that keen on air-cooled Porsches then I can understand.

It's a standard C2 though by the title description and although it's probably worth about £70k on the open market I feel like they've messed it up trying to make it look like a Turbo with that big wing on the back, especially since it's a narrow body (only the C2 'S' and C4 'S' had wide body shells).

I'd have a punt at that price but IMO it looked better before, they've ruined it with the spoiler and front skirt.

Looks way better in 'standard' spec.

But yeah, winning it for a tenner, having it for a while and then getting the cash alternative with low effort does seem fairly cake eaty.

If I win a raffle for an advertised* £70k prize and then find out it's only worth £20k I wouldn't consider that a win, I'd consider it fraud.

* I didn't see a cash value on the new one, the original one may not have made such a claim.

It was Potter who said they're about £70k, not the raffle.

Plus you'd be a properly grumpy graspy git to have such an attitude anyway ;)

Prices for the 993 are currently increasing quickly, you'd be hard pressed now to find a C2S or C4S for under £100k, there are a few on the market but they're all reasonably high mileage if they're cheaper. That particular one is probably going to be about £65-70k IMO - e.g. https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/16578999 - but as I said I think they've ruined it tarting it up like a pretend Turbo/RS, IMO they've devalued it by messing about with it, the money is in standard versions or period factory optional extras if they're on it, I don't think you could spec that narrow body C2 with an RS body kit.

An actual 993 Turbo is £150-250k depending on spec and condition, as I said prices have gone crackers.
I almost bought one instead of my 930, it was £220k but it was less exciting/fun to drive than my 930 even though technically it's a vastly superior car.

It's a fashion bubble that might burst, the next model Porsche that came out after these 993's is the 996 and it's a better car in almost every way than the 993 and you can pick a really nice one up for £30k - but it's not an air-cooled 911 and it's the air-cooled ones that fetch the money. That's why I bought mine now before they get even more silly - or the bubble might burst and I'll be looking a bit sick

My son in law has an R8, he also has a couple of other cars and rarely drives the R8, mainly because it's not that exciting and every time he drives it something breaks on it, the maintenance costs have been horrendous.

And that Aston Martin is horrible.
Egg shell blue is a lovely colour, on a Porsche GT3, but not on an Aston, it looks dreadful.
IMHO the only colours you can get away with on an Aston is silver or perhaps black, it's like a Ferrari that isn't red or yellow, it just looks wrong.

I seem to have a downer on almost everything posted on this page

R8s have a terrible reputation on the auto boxes. Reverse gently...

I totally agree about the colour of the Aston, "frosted glass blue" apparently! WTF came up with that. :wtf:

Gotta disagree about Ferraris though, black Ferraris are epic! 8-)

 Dont think I could ride it butmight risk 69p to (hopefully) find out! :D

The KTM 1290 Super Duke has earned the nickname "The BEAST" for very good reason. Being a super-naked with a huge 1301cc engine strapped to the frame, you can see where the name comes from.
The 1301cc V-Twin cylinder engine produces just under 180bhp and just over 140nm of torque, incredibly impressive figures for a road bike.
To assist in controlling the 1290, it comes fitted with variable driving modes, active wheelie-control and an ABS system. To compliment the mind-bogling technical systems, the KTM has a full HD dash display, which includes "KTM My Ride" connectivity.

We're giving you the chance to own this 1290 Super Duke for as little as 69p! Grab tickets while you can!

.Oh yes.. Porsche fans and car drivers get ready for the achingly gorgeous Porsche GT4 Clubsport finished in gloss white ready for fast road action and wow what a car to have in the garage.
Sharing its chassis and suspension from the 911 GT3 and with that 3.8 liter flat-six engine hooked up to yes badgers a manual box and sports exhaust this is arguably up there with some of the best performance cars that still combines track day handling and some practicality at the same time. This GT4 has the full bodykit and rear apron and spoiler riding on 20 inch alloy wheels with a huge specification list below. Alcantara steering wheel, carbon bucket seats, yellow seat belts and roll cage this is a proper road going track car that delivers blistering performance thanks to 385bhp with 0-60 in just 4.2 seconds but its the handling that makes this car so special with that GT3 derived set up and Porsche active suspension management with a number of driving modes along with active sports exhaust this is an absolute belter of a Porsche so check out the spec and gallery.

1981 AUSTIN VANDEN PLAS
Enter for £6.00

On September 17, 1974, the Vanden Plas 1500, based on the Austin Allegro, was released as the successor to the Princess 1300. It was equipped with British Leyland’s ‘E’ series 1485cc overhead camshaft engine, and had a single SU HS6 carburettor, producing 68bhp at 5500rpm.

Unlike the Princess 11/1300s, the Mark 1 model did not include the picnic tables on the back of the front seats, and it had slightly less rear legroom compared to its predecessor. However, it featured highly polished burr walnut on the uniquely designed fascia and door cards. The seats were upholstered in leather, with bound Wilton carpets over additional sound deadening covering the floor, and the cabin roof was trimmed in nylon cloth. A total of 3,640 Mark 1s were produced before the Mark 2 model was launched in October 1975.

The Mark 2 Vanden Plas 1500 had revised suspension settings, offering a much-improved ride, while the engine and transmission remained unchanged. Inside, the rear seats were adjusted and moved back to provide more legroom, and due to customer demand, picnic tables were added as a standard feature to the rear of the front seats. A total of 7,318 Mark 2s were produced before the introduction of the Mark 3 model in October 1979.

The Mark 3 models (like this one) underwent slight name changes. The manual transmission version retained the 1485cc engine but was now fitted with twin SU type H1F4 carburettors, increasing the power output to 77bhp at 5750rpm. This version was named the Vanden Plas 1.5.

Externally, the Mark 3 cars featured a flat boot lid, black surrounds for the front and rear windscreens, black door mirrors, and side indicator repeaters on each front wing. Internally, a radio and front seat headrests became standard features, and the interior door handles were changed from chrome to black.

The Vanden Plas factory at Kingsbury closed in July 1979, with all remaining cars finished at MG Abingdon. Production of the Mark 3 ended in August 1980, with a total production run of 752 manual and 232 automatic models.

Our 1981 Vanden Plas is one of those 752 manual models. It was actually built at the Austin factory at Longbridge before being finished and Trimmed at MG Abingdon. Originally leaving the factory finished in Silver Grey Metallic, it was repainted in the late 1980s in Rover Cashmere Gold over Vanden Plas Tan trim.

Since being in the Bridge Classic Cars workshop, it has undergone some paint repairs as well as having a new water pump fitted.
