To the contrary, in the current situation making a conscious decision not to cast a vote is indeed a valid action intended change the "status quo". Not miniscule if/when large numbers of the electorate make the same decision. Which I think will probably be the case.

I disagree completely, how does that change the status quo at all?

All it does is tell whatever party that gets into power that they've got carte-blanche to do whatever they like because no-one is going to stop them. It says the non-voters can't be arsed to take an interest so the politicians can be as corrupt as they want and there will be no repercussions.

I simply don't understand how anyone can think that's a good idea.

I'm hoping a good trashing in Scotland will give the SNP the clear mandate they are always banging on about, they will take it as a sign that nobody wants independence and disband.

Out of interest, which political party in the UK would make things satisfactory for you? For example, you don't like being told what to do...presumably a party that advocates the abolition of the law/police. Not seeing that in any manifesto.
Who not to upset? Turn that around: who do you want to upset?
Who's lying about inflation? Most of the economists I read are independent, albeit with a political leaning. Where's your research?
Lying about interest rates. What lie? They're at 5.25% in this country. Other countries have other base rates. Go look at the BoE/other central bank website if you don't believe me.

IIRC, 2011 we had a bit of a referendum to see if we wanted PR, as opposed to FPTP. I seem to recall about 2/3 of the folk of this fine nation gave it a resounding fuck off.
