Pretentious affectations
I'll only use foreign reusable shopping bags in the UK. I doubt anyone notices but I think it makes me look well traveled and cosmopolitan.

I've been using bags I bought in UK supermarkets when shopping over here! But really only because the designs are generally more fun - lots of people have asked me where I got the Star Wars bags and even the unicorn design one
Aside from that I don't do pretentious - I hate VW and love TLs FFS

Re: Pretentious affectations
I often see an Italian neighbour whilst out. I always greet him in Italian and then look around to see who has clocked that I'm exotic and wind-swept.
The conversation invariably switches to English due to my poor language skills after three or four sentences, but the passer-by are gone by then, their dreary lives made a little brighter by forrin banter.

Oh lord, yes, same here. The car boots are stuffed with Jodofi & Carrefour bags... It's more for the sentimentality though, honest.

When walking our mongrel dog in the posher bits of town and when people ask what he is I tell em he's a long legged, long nosed, long tailed Jack Russell.

Technically it's trus(ish) cos Salukis are sighthounds and he"s 1/4 Saluki but really I'm just taking the piss out of the Domenic Cummings eyetest fiasco.
