I've 'ticked off' doing another Col here. The Col de la Madeleine this morning. Left home about 7.15, had to stop in Moutiers to meet someone and hand over a phone that was left in the minibus yesterday, then off I went.

Again, another Col/route that I've not done because I was saving it for when I could ride it - bloody glad, would NOT have been fun in the transit, well, maybe easier from the other side, but from this side, quite narrow, but actually really nice roads :D And the views! I rode up so gently cos I keep slowing to look at the view! Same on the way down!! LOL

I got to the top and was wandering around looking at the views and two other bikes arrived - one of the guys called over. Downside of having pink hair, everyone recognises you! LOL - worse, I'm pretty sure I've not met him, but he bisous'd me so I'd guess he probably has met me - or wanted to??!! :? He is mates with a couple of my winter mates so we had a photo in front of the Col 'monument' for him to send and then had a coffee. He was heading on to go down the other side, another col that I can't remember, the col de Galibier through Souza and back over the Col de l'Iseran!! It's an all day ride and my arm is not a happy arm today, so I said no, but he's offered to lead the way another time, which would be awesome so I can follow someone who knows the way. Will be weird riding with/following a Harley though!

Me and Olivier

Him and his mate, before he hollered at me to join them!!

Panoramic (hopefully) from the other side of the cafe stop!

Image

Various seating options - the swinging chairs would be lush to relax in on a sunny afternoon - the view is incredible!

Image

Weird pano - two sides of the col -

Image

The other side from where I live -

Can't see where I live, but this is looking towards the Savoie

Image

Stopped partway down cos, well, look

Image

Definitely want to head up there at stupid o'clock one day to watch the sun rise :D :D

Here's the route. The ride from the valley up to the Col is way more interesting than the map suggests!!

It's pretty awesome here. Pretty much anywhere you ride, the views are amazing. More so if you ride up!!

I've had to drag myself out of a black hole (sank for about two weeks) and going out today made me remember why I love life. It might not be easy sometimes, but then you go out on a bike and all feels ok again :D :D

The brown windows were fading and needed changing or painting.

We started the changes when we installed patio doors onto the patio 3 years ago.

I painted all the windows, doors and gates behind the house last year.

The law here says you can only have blue, green or brown windows and doors here.

I even had a software product called Portex that printed out diaries, phone lists, notes etc on Filofax format paper. :D

(It was  If you lost your Filofax, you just printed everything out again).

First time we drove to Spain, with a baby on board and a caravan on the back, I had a list of towns to hit. The only advice was go down in that order and you'll get there and off I went as excited as can be. Now if i go anywhere i have a sat nav an often "drive" there using street view first! :wtf:  :D

I had a boss who used to do exactly that. And I'll be really freaked out if your first name is Robert...

The law also says that all houses can only be painted white. It's beautiful when the villages have uniform houses.

When we go to Fuerteventura, it looks like Beirut in comparison :obscene-birdiedoublered:

Put it all in the computer
Print it
Stick it in your filofax
Lose said filofax
Go back to the computer
Print it again...

I can't help but feel something is wrong with this picture :hmmm:

Don't try and convince me you could have a portable computer, the battery tech and available charging infrastructure would never support it.

Never had any of those things. My memory seems to make them redundant.
