Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
Neighbour backing onto us and doing up their house has left a bird scaring device on in there back garden after reseeding the lawn, every few minutes its like a dying seagull crying out. It's doing my head in and started early this morning, I've been round too have a polite word but no one is in and the place is a building site so I'm not sure anyone will be back before the weekend when they seem to do most of the work.
If no-one is in tonight do I unplug the bloody thing or knock it into a million bits with a golf club?

Popping into the supermarket cos I needed a couple of things, but as it was only a couple of things, I didn't take a bag. Having bought yoghurt and a dozen eggs, I then proceeded to drop the eggs
I've broken/cracked all of them FFS
So, looks like I need to do a lot of baking/cooking tomorrow to use them up

And, I was thinking about cars again today. And based on the Dacia basic models being a bit budget, I thought I'd have a look at new prices to see how far they are away from what I kind of plan/want to spend (hopefully in October).
Yup I thought, new price is about 4 or 5k more than the original budget, but it'll last longer and in theory less issues than a second hand model with 100-150k kms on it.
Nope - the auto is actually 8+k more

The Dacia Spring is only £15k in the UK and an auto... What with it being electric.

Still 17763.90€ on currency conversion! But as cars are generally expensive here, the Spring is probably more too.KungFooBob wrote: Tue Jun 25, 2024 1:47 pm The Dacia Spring is only £15k in the UK and an auto... What with it being electric.
Can't really have an electric where I live
Google suggests 18k for a Spring

18,900E on the French Dacia site.
Thought they'd be cheaper in France what with Dacia being Renault.

Samuel Smith pubs. I have no issue with a pub selling only its own beers, but FFS, at least make one of the them drinkable.
Even their spirits are disappointing, and I know this because I switched to G&T as the beer was so bad.

Yeah sounds like a fun place. Happily there isn't one within 15 miles of me.Our pubs are havens from the digital world – there are no TVs or background music. The use of mobile phones, laptops and other tech is not allowed in our pubs. Friendly pub conversation is encouraged (no swearing!) together with the responsible enjoyment of our beers.

I've been to the brewery and lived fairly close at one time. My local pub was a Sam's pub and beer was always good. As all the Sam's pubs in Leeds & Bradford. A crap landlord can kill a beer very easily.gremlin wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2024 9:34 am Samuel Smith pubs. Just to make you feel smug, a pint of their organic lager was....£7.90 a pint.
Being as all the beer in The Captain Kidd was so bad, I stuck with their Alpine Lager, which kicks in a very sensible 3.4%, as I've a busy day today. Even that now comes up at £4.90 a pint.
On the way back through Wapping to London Bridge, we stopped for one more in the lovely Town of Ramsgate. Had to have one pint of something half-decent on a night out, so went for the Beavertown Neck Oil.

I loves Neck Oil.
Sam Smiths lager is usually alright, better than Carling and Fosters anyway.

Italian roads
We developed a bit of vibration on the way back from Italy, felt like I'd lost a wheel weight.
Had a check around the van, couldn't see anything glaringly obvious.
Yesterday I was getting a lot of flashes from cars behind me. Pulled over, had a walk round, couldn't see anything obvious, carried on, more flashes, stop, look, nada. Eventually a Frenchie stopped and said 'renflement dans le pneu'
Looked, nothing! He asked me to roll forward slowly. Then I had a look and saw the inside of the tyre, fmob! And guess who had left the jack/tools at home! A very cautious drive back home!

The new Sonos app which dropped a few weeks ago. Pile of fucking shite. So many features dropped, now being quietly reinstated, plus issues with streaming accounts such as Deezer and Apple.
Fast pissing me off, with a lot of other users judging by the posts on the Sonos Community forum.

Post update, it was unusable for me - didn't even recognise the kit. Last few updates have made it a lot better but still not right....gremlin wrote: Wed Jul 03, 2024 11:25 am The new Sonos app which dropped a few weeks ago. Pile of fucking shite. Are you getting 'Something went wrong' when trying to play something from your service? If I look up an artist, it'll find them, but gives the error message when you try to play the most popular songs, discography, etc.v8-powered wrote: Wed Jul 03, 2024 11:53 amPost update, it was unusable for me - didn't even recognise the kit. Only just started happening for me, but the fourm suggests it's widespread.

Haven't had that issue, no - had an issue were every time I opened the app it took ages to find the system, kind of annoying if you just want to turn the volume down!gremlin wrote: Wed Jul 03, 2024 12:18 pmAre you getting 'Something went wrong' when trying to play something from your service?
