It's feckiin expensive already to go on holiday there. Be wary about making it more so.

Otherwise the local economy will have to rely on its other main industries. Tin and china clay, aren't they?

This is literally the best part of being an expat though. You have nothing that is somehow owed to you because of a peculiarity of your birth location. Every benefit seems like a lovely gift rather than is something to be pulled to shreds and grudgingly accepted. The natives roll their eyes in sympathy with you because your country is nearly always in a shittier mess than theirs. It's great.
May not be the case with France at the moment :hmmm:

Folk constantly moan about the UK.

Some of us find a better place to live.

The UK folk still moan. Especially about the expats.

It's entertaining :obscene-birdiedoublered:
Settled in a country that I wasn't born in? Check
Natives speak a language other than English? Check
Have to travel over water to get here? Check

I think that's me qualified as an ex-pat.

And lithium, don't forget the lithium.

As a matter of interest tin, copper, arsenic, iron, tungsten, silver, gold and china clay have all been mined in Cornwall.

Are those two scenarios to be run concurrently?

I'm one of the mediocre middle aged. I'm in my 40s.

Well going on the previous logic of what people said v what actually happened, maybe labour gets in and labour has a left wing takeover and drag out one of magic granddad's acolytes, and Nigel wins the next one. I think that's his strategy anyway.

I think the last few governments have gone on a long time and eventually people just get sick of it all. Tories have been in a long while, labour were in for ages beforehand and the Tories were in forever before, I don't remember anything pre thatcher.
Boris was supposed to be the new Maggie but that all turned to shit and Kier is no Lynton is he. I wonder what odds I'll get for Nigel to be the next pm but one
