That ^^^^ all looks remarkably calm. The in-car footage doesn't really capture the speed. It would be pretty epic to be in the passenger seat.

Watch his line through a bend. Then watch how much work he's doing with the steering wheel to achieve it . Probably a lot of subtle - but swift - throttle changes too.Count Steer wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 10:32 am That ^^^^ all looks remarkably calm. The in-car footage doesn't really capture the speed. I like the way it's emphasized (in various places, including the commentary) that he's doing it from memory, no navigator or notes. Yup, like the riders ...

Yup. Probably a whole lot of heel n' toeing going on.Horse wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 11:16 amWatch his line through a bend. Then watch how much work he's doing with the steering wheel to achieve it . It was a very good advert for a pretty poor car. Rover must have been well chuffed. (Bit of a risk for them too I imagine).

It was impressive enough for us to hang around after the bikes to watch him do it. I also remember peering over people's shoulders in the paddock to look at the tiny screen they had to see the in car footage. Bloody impressive.

I seem to remember Tony Pond took a TV reporter out for fast drive through some country lanes, when he came round a bend to find a car blocking the lane. I'm sure he hit iy as one moment it was not there, a split second later, there it was

Interesting fact (for BMW R-GS LC owners)...
The base of the onboard screwdriver (under the passenger seat) fits the oil filler plug. There's even a hole to slot the screwdriver shaft into to provde addition leverage.
Which makes you wonder why there's so many tools for sale on ebay, I bet 80% of owners don't know this!

It's a bit like a pudgier version of the 3 legs of Mann (IoM).

There's five parts and they all clip separately into the underside of the pillion seat. I bet 80% of owners don't even know how to get the seat off!

But I have a stop'n'go with a couple of the gas bottles in the top box.

Re: Interesting little facts...
I remember my old BMW E30 (car) had a neat little plastic grabber/tweezers/pliers thing which sat in the fusebox, exactly the right size for pulling fuses out.
My current German wagon has a branded HiVi which packs away into a perfectly fitted little pouch in the glovebox and a first aid kit which is flush with the boot floor. Oh and the electric windows slow down at the last moment just before they shut so it's quieter.
I do enjoy a neat design touch.

Re: Interesting little facts...
My E92 did too, and a rechargeable torch in the glove box. Apparently the fuse box on my Ovlov is under the passenger side carpet and you have to take half the car to bits to get to it.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 9:23 pm I remember my old BMW E30 (car) had a neat little plastic grabber/tweezers/pliers thing which sat in the fusebox, exactly the right size for pulling fuses out.

That's a shame. My local dealer used to run a sort of evening club and one of the things they put on was a demo of how to use the kit to best effect and you got a chance to have a go.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 9:19 pmNope.Count Steer wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 9:18 pmDo they still include the puncture kit?KungFooBob wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 8:57 pm

(They did other stuff like an evening with Charlie Boorman and organised ride-outs and France trips too. Then they changed ownership, stopped doing stuff, shut the café....then shut the business).

In ye good olde days, there was a tyre pump, first aid and cable lock (which was hinged to fold in half and stowed in the frame 'spine' tube.Count Steer wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 9:18 pmDo they still include the puncture kit?KungFooBob wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 8:57 pmThere's five parts and they all clip separately into the underside of the pillion seat. Even the earlier K bikes had a decent toolkit.

So did my 1986 Renault 5 Extra van. And it had the giraffe hatch, very useful. I've not seen one on a van since.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 9:23 pm I remember my old BMW E30 (car) had a neat little plastic grabber/tweezers/pliers thing which sat in the fusebox, exactly the right size for pulling fuses out.

The only recorded British shark attack in the year 2000 was in Worcestershire, 60 miles from the nearest sea. The Fountain pub in Tenbury Wells had three sharks in a tank, and one bit a chef’s hand when he fed it some prawns.

Alligators can live up to 100 years. So there's actually a pretty good chance they will see you later...

Iirc they're like Lobsters, the cells don't age/degrade so it's not old age that kills them, it's disease/fighting/getting so big the environment can't support them, etc...
