All our Promise Pamphlets go straight in the bin, along with ballot papers.

We had a massive by-election here some years back, with about 20 candidates. All stuffing letterboxes with their leaflets.

My MP is called Gareth Bacon.

There is no point to this thread, other than me typing a comedic-sounding name.

I live in a brand new constituency now! Never before contested.

I didn't even realise my vote will be making history until I saw what was written across the top of my polling card.

1993 at a guess, so 'some' = 31. :D

Some years less than half my age. So, to me, some time ago. I hadn't realised that there was a defined scale of these terms :D

And not nearly as recent as insider news rumour that Rishi might resign

He got far more (do I need to qualify this, on a scale of 'a few' through to 'trounced'?) votes than Miss Whiplash.

He holds the record for most seats contested...and he never once kept his deposit. :D The MRLP did get some council seats though and at least 3 of the things he proposed got implemented.

I've taken the image out. @Tricky Apols if you're not bothered but it's usually an oversight so I thought it best).

PS The current SDP aren't quite what the original one was. A rump didn't go with the Liberal merger inc. David Owen but they eventually dissolved the party. A bunch then started it up again. They're quite Labour in some ways and a bit UKIP'y in others. Former boss of the Today programme, Rod Liddle is a member. The only official they've had was, iirc, a Euro-parliament UKIP defector.
Ah cheers @cheb and @Count Steer missed that one 😬

No worries. I made a note of it before I posted.

I'm going to vote for SNP, as long as they promise not to try and govern the country if they win. Swinney has said if they get a majority it'll trigger independence. A majority of what? Seats at Westminster? Scottish seats at Westminster? Percentage of the vote in Scotland? Etc, etc.

How more miles will be driven by fossil fueled post vans to deliver leaflets from the Green party to every household, considering that not every household gets post every day?

As long as rich people are made to pay for it then it's worth it for them.

Before I call Mendip Council, anyone know if I can transfer my vote from that area to an area where I still know people that are registered to vote?!!

Wouldn't think it'll be much - if they're going out by post - vans usually follow a route and go out every day. Might be different in very sparsely populated areas.

If the Greens are driving around delivering them they should have done a deal - they could have delivered all the parties 'we would like to' sheets. :D

Lots more stopping and starting, plus all those long farm tracks in the rural areas. Not that Greens, in Scotland anyway, want people to actually live in the countryside.

We had two sheets off of Farages toilet roll, err I mean manifesto from the comedy club. Made I laugh!

But it's really poor quality toilet paper, so nothing to save it.

Every party bar one is trying to avoid the elephant in the room and the one exception is virtually certain to have little if any direct influence in the next parliament.

Labour promised they would reduce immigration but 2.7m entered the UK under Blair and Brown.

The Tories promised they would reduce immigration to the tens of thousands but on their watch 3m entered the UK.

No wonder there are Housing, NHS, Water, Sewerage, Transport, Education, etc. crises. Infrastructure overload.

Comedy bit is, not only are Reform's policies ridiculously un-fundable they'd be even more so if they just put a stop to all UK immigration
