My scoot has some on which are very good. 4 heat settings which is shown by a colour changing led, blue-green-orange-red. I’d had the scoot for ages before I noticed it had them!!

Gave it a bit of spit and polish before i don't think i'll see it again till spring, i keep getting hopeful of a nice day but you know what, it's just not going to happen.
Only the wheels and the underside of things really, but also took the Evotech radiator guard off to get any dead flies off the Rad.
So it's all nice now. I'd probably say it's a 9.5 condition wise, but with used bikes it's almost impossible to keep them a 10.

So i had an errand to run today to drop off a package for return. The sun was out and the roads were dry. It would have been rude not to take it for a swansong ride.
It wasn't exactly warm though that's for sure... But what it was, was glorious ! Pinned through the box, baraaaap, braaaaaaap, quickshifter working overtime through the gears.
In the past few weeks i've been having fleeting thoughts about chopping the XSR for the KTM790 for Portimao, mostly for electronics which with the ABS modes and the down blipper are better than the Yamahas stuff.
But it's hard to think that the KTM would be better in any other way, especially power delivery which the Yamaha XSR900 does absolutely brilliantly.
I'm not going to sit here and say it's a keeper.... but i do love the thing and it's absolutely brilliant.
p.s. Yes i know it's a rubbish photo, but the sunlight made every angle rubbish.

I'm surprised you've not bought that SDR on the PB forum.

Nah mate, it's the wrong colour. I had the 'right' SDR for a week in my unlucky bike purchase phase i had.
After watching Portimao this morning, the only thing i'd go is 1290... but i'm not in a position to spend that sort of money.

I keep having thoughts of a Superdook 990. Get one of those and a CRF250L for winter instead of something like an XSR. That way I'd have to settle for an older main bike, but come winter I can head out down the country lanes covered in cack on the 250 and still get some kicks in.
I know you have MTBs for that, but I can't stand cycling.

Well that cheers me up that i didn't buy the Scorpion exhaust.
MAybe i'm expecting too much from a system or maybe that was ridden in the salt flats, dunno... but i'd be VERY unhappy if i'd paid money out and ended up with it looking like this.

That's no problem if the stainless is solid - just have at it with a drill mounted wire brush, various grades of wet and dry and a scotch pad and its good as new.

Re: Happy new bike day.... WTF, what do you mean it's a Yamaha ???
A lot of the bikes i've bought only have the shiny bits where it shows, e.g. outside of exhaust gleaming, bit next to the swinging arm filthy. A lot of bike owners just don't clean bikes like you or others do, so that may not be a fair appraisal of a scorpion exhaust? I haven't had a Scorpion exhaust for years, but when I did have them I'd have said they were the better finished ones?
As an aside everytime I see you've replied to this thread I think its saying goodbye to the XSR and we can expect a orange thread soon...

Lol nah. The more time passes the less likely it is.
I had one wobble about a month ago and almost went 790 but I then got a day of sunny weather and took it out

That just looks standard fair for a bike that doesn't get regularly cleaned or ridden in less than ideal conditions rather than a poor quality system.
I've certainly bought bikes with far worse looking stainless systems that have still cleaned up as new with a little bit of effort.
