Needed a couple of tyres on it - noted one of the tyres was original from when I owned the car, tyre had done 83000 miles! OK, it was a Michelin tyre and on the rear on a small hatchback but that's still some going!

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
My Father's Day card (only got back today).
In it was a hand-drawn 'Beer token'.
The T&Cs on the back stipulated that it was to be my beer, from my beer machine, cooled by my electricity but it would be served by the Gremlinette at a time of my liking, if she's available.

Gremlinette does seem to be clever, funny and sharp witted.
Is she adopted?

I suppose this could have gone in the BMP thread as well! Anyway, insurance renewal time and I was expecting to get hammered for the Velar and my 6 points as well, but despite some quotes being over £4k, I got my renewal with Admiral for the velar and wife's Mini Cooper SD down from £2300 to £1750 all with protected NCD and MLP etc. I could have shaved another £150 if i split the cars to single cover with other companies, but I couldn't be arsed frankly.

The french when they agree with me!
At a soirée on Saturday, we were discussing language difficulties and peculiarities.
'The worm goes towards the green glass' being one of my favourites.
Then we came to numbers, or more precisely 97!
A whole table of french people suddenly realised how stupid their numbers are after 69!

I do so love that!! LOL The Belgium and the Suisse have it right - something like septante, huitanet, nonante , or something!! LOLSadlonelygit wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2024 10:01 am The french when they agree with me!

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
In Paris, especially in the business circles, they use septante, huitante etc daily now. It means far less confusion when talking on the phone about investment deals etc. (Told to me by someone who works in Paris city-stuff when I was house-sitting for them a few years ago)Noggin wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2024 10:29 amI do so love that!! Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
After Brussels I did a longish stint in Paris and used to delight in using septante and nonante (Belgians tended to use quatre-vingts for 80 but I understand the Swiss use huitante). They were constantly triggered by it and automatically 'corrected' me....every single timeRockburner wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2024 3:14 pmIn Paris, especially in the business circles, they use septante, huitante etc daily now.
