Been for a morning ride, and have been sorely tempted by the new FTR's that Indian are chucking out.

Re: What have you done today thread?
That's me tomorrow.
Today I was Over & Back testing on our railway HV 33KV and 750DC network. What's that you say, well we are switching over to a new SCADA system (Supervisory Control and Data Aquisition), basically playing the same computer game but on a different console. So you have to check all the equipment and alarms at a Substation (Staff onsite to confirm that when you operate X it operates and not Y) on the old system, before switching to the new system and repeating before switching back to the old system. It is very slow and tedious and then we had a site glitch on the new system so 90 minutes of investigations occurred. The only problem for me, the testing Operator was having to use 3 systems to operate our HV network and because we were testing one site on the new system meant that the safety interlocks and indications we get were useless as we had to bypass them. I was not a happy Operator. If you "drop" the HV network all the signalling for the trains in the area fail and worse your colleagues will never let you forget.

Re: What have you done today thread?
I still have to make an appointment!! But, I'm scared, and it's expensive (although I think it's covered better now!)
My mother sent me an article from her paper the other day that I read this morning about the importance of also seeing a dental hygenist - I'm not sure I have the heart to tell her that they don't really exist in France
Today I have done very little. I'm bloody shattered after yesterday's ride home!
I posted a couple of important letters
Am doing some cross stitch
And the most important, managed to get an appointment with the physio in the valley. I think he's quite happy about it, I haven't the heart to tell him that I'll be seeing the resort one as soon as he gets back in July!!

Was gonna be about 15k to change all the aluminium windows from brown to blue, so slowly and steadily painting them mesen.
I'd painted one of middle floor bedrooms inner surface, then put paint tray on windowsill to go up ladder to paint outside.
The wind was blowing and by the time I got outside, the paint tray had blown off dumping the blue paint everywhere

There's nothing really exceptional about it but it's on a nice scale and always seemed to have a bit of a holiday feel about it. Possibly because a lot of the day to day stuff is on the other side of the bridge.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Celebrated Northfleet Day at my church with lots of people from the local community, including two mayors, a gentleman in his 90's who was in the Special Boat Services in the 50's, serving in Burma (horrible experience says he) and a Navy Captain who helped with unveiling a plaque that has been given in memory of the ship called Cygnet. Lots of cake, biscuits, raffles, organ music, bell ringing, car washing and a very good Ploughman's Lunch!
Me with the Mayor of Gravesham!
Now I am a bit tired. Time to finish the sermon for tomorrow, put feet up, drink the gin I won on the raffle (a small sample bottle of the good stuff).
We also presented a cheque for £615 to the KSSX, Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance who airlifted a member of our choir to Kings College Hospital Denmark Hill after her car crash. Sadly she succumbed to her injuries, but their service was greatly appreciated and valued.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Mooched around Turin and came across a meeting of FIAT Coupes, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the launch of the model. Plenty of UK cars there, one bloke coming all the way from Scotland.
There was a crowd and the middle was one of the blokes who was instrumental in the design. Can't recall his name (German fella ,IIRC) but he was posing for pictures and signing the interior fascia strips, which I thought was a nice touch. Seems the Coupe was a bit of a labour of love for him. Always had a soft spot for the 20v turbo.
