Codeine? Plenty of water and fibre in the diet, else you'll have far more discomfort than a mere thumb.

I thought I'd be ok when I broke my elbow in a bike accident many years ago. It was so painful I was prescribed Codeine, which, shall we say, upset my constitution. A few weeks later I was back at the hospital with a camera up my jacksie as the codeine had clogged me up something terrible and caused really bad Farmer Giles.Noggin wrote: Tue May 28, 2024 8:10 pmI don’t seem to get any side effects from opiates - sadly for most but happily for that!! Re: What have you done today thread?
Spilt some paint. Not just any old paint. Oh no, the nasty deep blue oil based gloss paint.
Onto a tiled floor
Was carrying a small roller tray across the apartment as painting the windows. Door slammed shut coz of wind. When I bent to open it, the tray took a lean and dropped the paint over 10 ft trail in bedroom. Fark, was everywhere.
Grabbed big dust sheets and thinners and tried to do my best.
Was all over my sandals so walking it about.
Bent down to clean, but it was all over my knee pads so just making it worse.
My knees were also covered so that was as bad. Then saw my shorts were dripping, through to legs and tummy.
So into garage and strip wash with thinners and towel
Luckily had plenty of rags and thinners.
Tiles all clean but grouting now looks black.
Almost gave up painting, but persevered and now all finished. I hate painting

Re: What have you done today thread?
Today I have taken a quiet Holy Communion service for a small congregation, half term, so things are quieter.
Then up to the next town to do interment of ashes for the lady whose funeral I took last year. Her sister was very grateful for the service and opportunity to lay her to rest "properly".
Back to the church for an audio demonstration of a system we are now going to get installed. Bose speakers, Sennheiser microphones and so on, so decent quality and Allen Heath backbones for sound desk and ancillaries. Will also have Bluetooth connectivity. We managed to get the funding for the system and only need to find 10% of the costs, so a real win win for us.
Now sorting out some emails and getting ready for a meeting Diocesan Synod meeting tonight, so I need to be on my best behaviour as I am also looking to stand for the Synod as clergy member.

Re: What have you done today thread?
No me... The wife.
Just been offered another job, now she has to work out which one she wants.
Four days a week, 40k, four miles from home.
OR
Full time, 45k, 18 miles from home.
Looks like a easy decision, but the first one is working for a bunch of tree hugging yoghurt weavers in the fashion sector and requires occasional travel to places like the south coast. The 2nd is manufacturing/distribution of lighting products, which in my mind is more stable.
She's going to be chewing my ear about it all night!

They gave me a ton of tramadol over both rehab stays (5 months then 2.5 months) with no effects, pain relief or clogged up insides!!gremlin wrote: Wed May 29, 2024 1:55 pmI thought I'd be ok when I broke my elbow in a bike accident many years ago. Maybe codeine is worse - so if I do end up taking them, I’ll keep the warning in mind

Re: What have you done today thread?
Drove some friends to the airport this morning then waited a bit to give someone a lift back to the valley. Not someone I’ve met but know of his business.
Before we left for the airport this morning he messaged and asked if I like Turkish delight (he was flying back from Istanbul!) -

Sooooo much nicer than the stuff Cadbury calls Turkish Delight

Re: What have you done today thread?
I live on a street with 10 homes. There's a retired Marine at one end whose birthday it was today. He has to be pushing 90, Korean War Vet..Most of the neighbors went to the restaurant at a local golf club for a surprise lunch for him. I was home working on the ShitBox Honda.
While I was outside working on the car I saw him walk past on his way to the mailboxes, he didn't go to the lunch.
