I've seen old diversions used to make replica 1960's racers before, but not 80's style. Looks alright.

It may look OK to some (it's not it's fucking awful), but you can bet your arse the XSR900GP is 100 times better a bike to ride than that stinking pile of shit thing.

A reverse image search comes up with this pipe burn article from April...

https://pipeburn.com/yamaha-xj600-seca-spain/

So I expect it was inspired by the GP concept bike.

Are you suggesting 70bhp and twin piston sliding calipers wouldn't give an XSR a run for it's money :D

POssibly man. I rode one of these things once, it was absolutely horrific. Even the GPX750R was better than this and that cost £150.

The terms 'XJ600' and 'special' do not belong in the same sentence, unless the word 'needs' is also present.

The phrase 'lipstick on a pig' comes to mind.

It's not perfect but it looks decent enough if you're into 1980's and 90's iconic bikes like the 500GP bikes, TZR, TRX, FZ, etc those bikes were/are iconic and they'll still be getting copied in another 40yrs.
I'm struggling to think of any new look coming off the production lines today that will be iconic and being copied in forty years.
It's bloody awful, simple as that really. There's honestly nothing i could look at and like about it. Then there's the how it'd ride, it's going to be a shit show to ride.

I think it looks ok, if you like that sort of style (I dont, but there were plenty that did back in the day).

BUT the xj6 was well known as a really uninspiring work-horse commuter. And it's an IL4, probably the least inspiring engine config for starters. I don't think the xj6 has any merit as basis for a 'special'.

It's a mantelpiece bike.
Unfortunately every now and again you may have to poke the fire, and then it would be a disappointment I would imagine.
I see a low rent TRX850 there!

Have a word, the exhaust is worth half of that price, he'll have but £8000 in that and want £15,000 to sell it.

Aw man, don't tiptoe around the subject, ffs be definite and voice a direct opinion. I can't be doing with this noncommittal stuff.

I quite like the looks, but any XJ Perversion is not going to be a great rider.

Vive la difference is a good point, as always.

We're quite lucky that at this moment in time the 'custom bike scene' encompasses pretty much all genres, including this one, whereas in days gone by it was fairly focused - cafe racers, chops, race reps, streetfighters, rats etc. Not so long ago if you 'went to a show' you were faced with row upon row of mainly very poorly imagined choppers or streetfighters all hiding under some awful Dream Machine paint job based upon the owners set of 'stuff I like' thought out in much the same way as they'd applied their tatts. "I like axes, wimmin's tits and flames - make it looke like that."). And the majority of them were fecking horrible to ride.

If you go to summink like the Bike Shed Show you'll find a minority of brown bench seats because that became passé almost immediately but you do see quite a lot of this xj6 WHY-the-f*ck type bikes - because why not? In the metal and up close most of them are beautifully finished - whether you like them or not is a different story. But what is great is that there are folk out there who have the imagination for such things and the technical ability to pull it off. I've said this before but I got chatting to a bike builder guy and in summary he said that you can build a custom using any standard bike as a starting point - you just start pulling parts off it until it stops looking awful, and only then do you start putting new bits on. More fool you if you then create something that looks awful. Someone, somewhere, quite liked an xj and wanted to make it better - I think they achieved that.

I don't know how many thousands the owner spent on it,but he didn't spend it wisely
