Brake pads question - CBF1000
Didn't look at the year of the bike, but it's fairly old. 10 ish years I'd guess.
Anyway - what pads would you suggest.
More for longevity than track braking!
They'll get hot fairly quickly as 99% of the time I'll be starting at the top of a mountain (and if not, probably still a bit up a mountain!!).
For now I think it might need front pads soon (if I don't wear my ear plugs, I can hear them on the disc, not a squeal or metal on metal, but just a rubbing sound, which might be normal!! ) - but will probably buy a full set as I'm trying to use the rear a bit more (hairpins galore, so it's better for my arm and probably for my riding to use the rear more often, I think!)

Honda OEM will work best with the original Honda discs without causing too much wear.
They might be stupid expensive tho'
The CBF has Honda CBS iirc, the linked brakes.
So pulling the front should apply the rear a bit and stomping on the rear activates a single piston in each front caliper. Your Blackbird would have had the same system I think.

I'll go look in a mo to get the age and see if the discs are original. Without knowing what pads are fitted and how they've been treated it's hard to say much.
EBC are/were our go to pad, but anything 'decent' is likely to be perfectly fine in 99% of instances. Stay away from GOLDFren for example, or anything cheap and badged up at 1/2 price of other stuff.

If I don't go standard, I'll probably post up what I find and make sure they are ok before I buy them!!

EBC HH pads always worked well on the road on my CBR1000R, they're my go to when I need road stuff.

The Hornet OEMs were no more expensive than quality aftermarkets, and lasted a lot longer too - typically around 20k per set. And still on the OE front discs at 90,000 miles despite hundreds of e-stop demos. You may find Nissin (OEM maker) pads for cheaper than Honda pads.

Which cbf is it? Mk1 or MK2?
Double exhaust can or single exhaust can?
If it's a mk 1 with gold calipers the general advice I've read is OEM front and ebc organic on the rear. All 3 calipers take the same pad.
I find the OEM pads to be very good in all weathers.
If it's mk1 with black calipers then it's a very early model and advice may be different.
