Can't you use it to mend your boots?Noggin wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 3:12 pm I've finally done a load of sorting out of kitchen stuff - moving most of the supplies to under the bed and keeping some on the shelves of a kitchen 'trolley' thingie.
I had put a big jar of malt extract on those shelves cos I had a plan to make some malt loaf later.
Won't be doing that

Dementia is really BMP right now. Just got a call from a very upset Father-in-law as my Mother-in-law is adamant she split up with him years ago and wants to go home to her partner. I think our live are about too change quite dramatically. It was inevitable this would happen, just hoped as she was 93 she'd slip away before this awful disease got hold of her.

Sorry Pietin, I know exactly what you're going through. My mum has dementia and some of the things she says are truly upsetting and shocking. Pre care home was a nightmare. Police involved, companies calling me to get her to stop bothering them. She even escaped from hospital once. She's a month off of her 92 birthday and shows no sign of slowing.Taipan wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 9:12 pm Dementia is really BMP right now. That's not bust. Bust is when the bearings and seals go, exceeding the capacity of the tea tray it was sat on in the loft and leaks into the master bedroom.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 10:02 am Busted shower pumps

Is that better or worse than a seized motor getting hotter and hotter until it smells like it might catch fire I wonder.
Daft thing keeps on trying for ages even after I've turned the shower off, I had to go get to isolator switch in the airing cupboard behind all my carelessly shoved in old duvets and crash helmets.

Pah, the one I had that leaked was plastic, I was surprised it had lasted as long as it did.
I replaced it with a metal bodied one with brass fittings, it was £300 so I hope it lasts until the rapture.

Well...if you're hoping metal bodied, brassy three hundred quid ones last until the rapture, I may have bad news for you.

I can never work them out. Got my renewal through from Bennetts, but they hadn't put my 6 points on there, so i got them to add them and requote. No difference and the policy was £12 cheaper than last year. Campervan insurance had doubled in price and again, they hadn't quoted with my 6 points, so they added them and requoted but no difference in price??Sadlonelygit wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2024 7:32 am Anyways, insurance companies!
Wtaf is going on?
Got my renewal from Devitt yesterday, 30% increase in premium.
No claims, clean license, rural address, low annual mileage.
C'mon, it's gone over £100 pa

In the 'what makes you happy' thread, after I had a whine at them and told 'em proper, they dropped it lower than last year, go figure.Taipan wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 12:31 pmI can never work them out. Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
I took my four year old three hundred* quid brass fittings one apart today...seized pretty much solid. Spinny bits not spinny. If it was solid solid I'd have said it suffered a catastrophic "sucked something up" failure, but it ain't, it's just mega mega graunchy.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 10:33 am Well...if you're hoping metal bodied, brassy three hundred quid ones last until the rapture, I may have bad news for you.
I was kinda hoping it'd be possible to change the bearings, which are almost certainly utterly generic ones which cost two quid, but from what I can work out it's all pressed together and the tools to get it apart would cost me as much as a new one.
*more like 400 with the ol' cozzie livs price rises now

An overnight 9 hour Bus and Train journey to Melbourne to pick up my Bike is double the price of the daytime journey.

West End theatre prices.
Gremlinette noted that 'Spirited Away' had been adapted for the stage and was running at The Coliseum. Two tickets for a matinee performance, just £458 to you, squire.
Want to see Tom Holland in the latest adaption of Romeo and Juliet? £275 a ticket, guv.
Who the fuck is paying these prices? I'll stick with seeing my mate who does a bit on am-dram for The Fairlight Players. Tickets are tenner.

Yup, gave up on London theatres a long time ago because of prices. Cliffs Pavilion or Palace Theatre in Sarfend is where I go now, even then its rarely cos its normally £60ish a decent seat.

Years ago I gave up on seeing big acts at concerts with 30,000 others at £150 a ticket and instead I go to see smaller artists, I get to the front, I pay sub £10 a ticket. If it's in the Alps, it's free and I'll probably have a drink with the band before they start too !
