I fell foul of it last year, copping a 42 in a 20 nicking which cost me £800 and 6 points! Anyway, i'll answer to myself for that one, but, as i'm so paranoid about getting any more points, i stick to it religiously and TBH I find myself driving under 30mph when local now. :?
I’ve had 2 tickets when driving in Hackney for work and I’m really careful since.
We’ve moved further out and are on the border of 2 boroughs where I have about 200 ms then it’s 20 to 30 to 40
I then go onto the A12 50 mph for about 5 minutes and I’m back in Hackney and
blanket 20 limits.

Thats madness! How the hell do you keep checking that and your surroundings etc, but I guess fairly typical of Londons stupidity! Another thing is bikes in some bus lanes, but not in others. Not very welcoming for visitors.

Tbh it’s great - I’m hardly ever in a 20 now unless I head into town.
The Hackney bit doesn’t take long and I’ve got cheap/free bus travel as I’m an oldun when I use public transport
The car at work is a leaf so it’s easy to drive at 20

Rob Clark, head of motor underwriting at esure, said: “We can see a clear drop in vehicle damage claims in Wales since the 20mph speed restriction was introduced in September 2023. During a time when we usually see these claims rise, they dropped and have continued to do so in the first quarter of 2024. The restriction is clearly having an impact.”

'Impact' might not have been the ideal word ...
Even bland can be a type of character
