1. We all never will
2. I don't clean the table for them
3. Many uk pubs are struggling to get enough staff

Pam is incredibly disappointed in you!Noggin wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2024 2:15 pm I went to the valley and visited a really good butcher for meat to make sausages. Also bought a joint cos I've not had a roast for blooming ages. Went to another shop and got some potatoes and carrots (got other veg in the freezer!)
Got home and realised I've got no gravy granules or gravy powder
Gutted
I know I could probably make some gravy from scratch, but I actually like gravy granules gravy
Cos I have no gravy granules or cos I’m not making my own??!!Sadlonelygit wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2024 3:58 pmPam is incredibly disappointed in you!Noggin wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2024 2:15 pm I went to the valley and visited a really good butcher for meat to make sausages. You might have just written the most insignificant complaint in the whole thread!KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2024 5:04 pm Staying at the in-laws to look after the dogs for the night, just gone to make a sandwich.
I'd forgotten that MIL was a butter miner.
The practice should be outlawed.
You should use your knife to skim it off in lovely smooth layers, not jab massive holes in it.... and don't get me started on the toast crumbs!
Because you don't make gravy!Noggin wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2024 4:31 pmCos I have no gravy granules or cos I’m not making my own??!!Sadlonelygit wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2024 3:58 pmPam is incredibly disappointed in you!Noggin wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2024 2:15 pm I went to the valley and visited a really good butcher for meat to make sausages. TBF i probably will do thé roast and make the gravy tomorrow. Sausages planned for tomorrow or Monday
Gotta be in the mood - and a roast is easy with ‘instant’ gravy
White gravy?????Sadlonelygit wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2024 6:58 pm
Because you don't make gravy!
Mind you, the amount of times I've had white gravy........
The easiest recipe I found said make a roux with butter and flour and add stock!!
I miss bisto too. But that’s just cos it’s so damned expensive here and I forgot to buy some when I was in the uk in March!!
Then the price can come down.
+Marmite and Worcestershire sauce and even Soy sauce. They've all got loads of Umami and make the gravy taste more "savoury". Stock from a cube would just be salty really, so you'd be making thick salt water
A friend and I had drinks at a bar this winter, they had an app so you could pay the bill without needing the server. They charged a small fee to use the app! The app must be cheaper than a staff member they no longer need, yet the price has gone up !
I doubt it. They already have the staff and cant always cope with demand. I refuse to use self service tills in the supermarket as they are clearly taking jobs. Speaking to the staff in my local Tesco they have already noticed a reduction on staff. Not that they have been paying anyone off just not replacing a few that have left.
Not in our Tesco they are not. 18-24 month at most. Local Aldi have introduced them also. No one on the tills in the evenings they were hoeing for but the queues were so long they had to put someone on the tills as these stupid things are next to useless when you have a trolly of goods. Now they need two staff on rather than the usual one in the evenings.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 9:56 am "Already noticed"
Self service checkouts have been a thing for nearly 20 years now!
