It subjective to who you are.

Personally for me it's being successful in Music, my chosen hobby and passion.

Ok it's nice to have nice things and not have to worry about the bills, but i would think i would much happier with 3 successful albums under my belt and a small amount of money, than loadsa money and 0 successful music releases.

The pursuit of money to pay taxes to make the rich even richer get's in the way a lot though unfortunately, but the struggle continues and i won't give up until i'm successful or die trying!

As for whether success is being happy or rich - that's for you to decide, the question " What's your idea of success? " was meant pretty literally, as in, what in life will make you feel successful at life?

Examples I can think of, but may or may not agree with:

Being wealthy
Bringing children up successfully
Making something
Winning something
Having a big house
