Friday thread, the May heatwave

Post by weeksy »

We've all been waiting for some sun and this week we've sure had it.

It was BBQ and beers in the garden yesterday for us along with shorts weather.

Fri. WFH and then driving to north Wales. Only a few miles in the border, but still Wales. Set up camp, bikes, BBQ beer and catching up with racers and parents.
Sat. Bike prep and a day of practice for the lad. BBQ in the evening and shit talking
Sun. Race day, 2 runs... Lets see what the day brings.

Guzzi Mot this morning then I've got to nip over to Hebden Bridge to pick some stock up, should be a nice jaunt in the sunshine🌞

Out for tea tonight for our 8th wedding anniversary - Michelin tasting menu and a wine flight 😋

Saturday - another dry day forecast so the Guzzi will be getting another run out, not decided where yet though.

Sunday - local emtb ride before the predicted thunderstorm then friends round for tea.

I'm being a culture vulture this week daaahlings.

Got a day on Charles Villiers Stanford (Anglo-Oirish composer) on Sat (includes lunch  ), arts and crafts show on Sun and a sculpture trail in some v nice gardens during the week.

In between I'll be channelling the spirit of Barry Bucknell (you need to be quite old to remember him). I imagine it will involve trips to Screwfix.

I'm buying shares in hardboard manufacturers.

And waiting very impatiently for my new router, that's an internet router not a woodworking one. It's very tedious having to hotspot my phone. More shed work and possible faffing with some new doors. Hanging's too good for them.

Another wedding anniversary over here today - we're off to a comedy gig tonight. 😎

Tomorrow night we have our village am-dram play to suffer through. 😬

Heading up north to see what remains of the in-laws on Sunday (FIL and aunt-in-law).

Daytimes will involve yet more DIY, and hopefully a cheeky spin or two out on the KTM 😎 (It's my last week of garden leave next week, so trying to get as much crammed in as possible.)

I've had two sunny bank holiday days already this week, so I'm going in to work today for a rest before continuing the weekend in the same manner.

Oh yeah, a PS....if anyone is a fan of Fungus the Bogeyman and anywhere near the Sarf coast there's what looks like a corking Raymond Briggs exhibition on at the Ditchling Museum of Art and Crafts.

I will be scheduling a trip.

Packing the campervan this morning and then heading off to teh Essex coast for the weekend in the campervan. My daughter joining us for the afternoon tomorrow, so we'll head to the pub where I shall scoff a seafood platter and wash it down with icy cold cider. That and a few long walks with the wife will pretty much sum up my weekend. Only downside will be the wife missing her dog to the point of tears i expect, but the dog has to start learning how to be without one of us.

Last late shift today but I’ve got the bike ready to go, chain oiled, top box on, checked and cleaned so I can go to work on it today. Saturday, early start off to the F’s for gardening, beer and barby, Sunday long lie in then Sunday lunch in the garden again, Monday, home on the bike, possibly in the rain, clear the loft ready for air source heating being put in, back at work Tuesday.
Have fun whatever you’re up to,
Mick

This stage of Summer will end on Sunday,so gotta pack it in today and tomorrow.

Grass cut and bike runs. Maybe a trip/picnic in the car, maybe a trip up NW200 direction, but I'll watch the racing on tv,it isn't one of my favs to attend these days.

Working today , ZH2 home
Saturday, walk dogs whilst Mrs M goes EMTBing with her mates, meet at pub afterwards for drinks.
Sunday, my turn to EMTB, probably a forest thrash whilst the weather is good. Maybe BBQ in the afternoon.

Today, see how far I can ride in one day and how many mountain road hairpins I can include!!

Tomorrow - somewhat more gentle!! Need to get some shopping and go to a butcher, so it's a good excuse to only do a few miles and rest the shoulder!!

Sunday : hopefully do some more riding. The weather is due to turn early next week so I want to get as many dry miles as possible done before I have to negotiate wet mountain roads :D :D
