very slow draining kitchen sink

Right guys I need some help, kitchen sink has become very slow to empty, I've taken the U pipe off underneath the sink and there was some gunk in there but nothing blocking it. I've put 2 bottles of Mr Muscle Max Gel Unblocker down there, 1 yesterday and 1 this afternoon, left them both 2 hours, still the same, any ideas what to try next???

Get some caustic soda... mix it up strong...

Let that soak for an hour or so, then use a plunger on it make sure you seal the overflow when you plunger it.

That's the kiddy...

It will heat up like fuck when you mix it up. Always add the soda to water, not water to soda... use a wooden spoon to mix it... its very exothermic when you mix it...

That one might even be pre-mixed. I have some granules you have to mix.

It wont get melt your pipes up hot...it will get hot though. If its pre-mixed it wont get hot at all.

The compressed air cans can work when a plunger doesn't. As advised, block the overall. And whatever you block it with, hold that firmly in place

I'd be cautious what you're putting down it as we ended up with a massive leak everywhere just in time for xmas - we had to do the washing up in the bathroom until we could get it fixed .
I just shout at people not to put tea leaves down the drain hole to no avail....

On mine I used to push the hose up the pipe with the tap on full. Often the fat that clogs up drains is cooling and setting further down than the ubend.

On mine I used to push the hose up the pipe with the tap on full. Often the fat that clogs up drains is cooling and setting further down than the ubend.

Get some rods, disconnect the pipe under the tap, push rods through so you at least know there's somewhere for large amounts of water to go having loosened it up, then use the hose, preferably with a thin gun attachment to start with. You don't want the water from the hose coming back up the pipe accompanied by a few years of gunk if there's not enough pressure to dislodge/create a hole at the blockage.
