Re: XSR900GP
I was in Morrisons earlier and I picked up MCN, they reckon it's not very comfortable and it says if you're looking for a sports-tourer then this isn't it, it's less comfortable and has a rock hard seat.
But - it also says it's got a higher grade suspension than the standard XSR and it's much better for it.
So to be fair it might be worth the extra, it specifically says it's not a half baked retro and it's a proper job.

Re: XSR900GP
Anyway, from what I’ve just read MCN love it - although it’s the first time I’ve picked MCN up for years so maybe they love everything.

Re: XSR900GP
I'd not seen it without the rear cowl before - for some reason I'd imagined it would be less similar to the regular XSR seat.

Re: XSR900GP
Me too- I think most of the versions of the MT09/XSR900 look gangly at best , and the earlier MT09s positively hideous, but I quite like that, and would take it over the GP
Fairings are for wimps anyway and as much use as an ashtray on a windscreen, or something like that

Re: XSR900GP
Was it Dazzle who said £15k was an average price now?
I’ve gone a bit mad this month and bought all the mags just for a read and I’m currently reading about the Husky Norden in Ride - £14,599!

@Potter go ride one, only way to tell. TBH there are few crap bikes now, they are all pretty good. But it's got to talk to you if you wanna own it. Mags can tell you so much but it's whether it lights your fire, not someone else's.

Re: XSR900GP
Not necessarily average in the strict sense, just not special. Certainly you can spend less on a bike, but it's very easy to spend 15k now and not receive a low run bike dripping in Öhlins and carbon fibre.

Re: XSR900GP
I quite like it in those pic's, GP. What other colours are there. ? Anything above 50hp I'd imagine is plenty for our roads these day's. I think my brand new bike buying day's are behind me, considering they're sat in the garage most of their lives. It's all got a bit expensive for the time I spend with them.

Re: XSR900GP
That's why i can self-justify bicycles so easily... There's very few days in a given month i won't be on a bicycle. Last day i didn't ride was Sunday, before that it was the Tues before.

Yep, I really enjoy the pedals, bit different to you but life at a slower pace, seeing more can be very enjoyable, plus Mrs Dodgy joins in.

Re: XSR900GP
That’s why I bought the Caterham and it’s why I want a 930 Turbo, I spend more time in cars and to be honest at the moment I prefer it because I can listen to music, it’s more comfortable, air-conditioned, etc, plus I can take my boy or Mrs Potter and we can talk properly as well, so it’s a bit of bonding or just time spent together chatting whilst having fun.
Bikes just aren’t featuring highly in my desires at the moment.

Re: XSR900GP
There's an early EXUP in the bike shed at work today, it looks massively better than this thing, buy an EXUP and throw money at it.

Re: XSR900GP
You're probably right there, I've seen really tidy and well looked after Exups going for just a few grand (there are some going for £1500 but I'm talking about really tidy low mileage examples that have been pampered) and then throw another few grand on suspension and if you're feeling really special then a blueprinted engine, and you'd have something really nice.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 12:32 pm There's an early EXUP in the bike shed at work today, it looks massively better than this thing, buy an EXUP and throw money at it.
Basically, throw £15k at building a very well sorted Exup and you'd have a much nicer, faster and better handling bike than an XSR900GP with pipe and fairing.
