Is this worn (car) tyre legal
It's worn on the outer edge. The rest has 2-3mm of tread.

The legal side of it is... "Tyre tread depth has to be above 1.6mm to be legal. This must be the case for the middle three quarters of the tyre."... so I'd say you're ok.
I would only change it before Monday if I was doing a long drive and rain was forecast.

My instinct was the wear was from ganning it round roundabouts rather than tracking.
Part of me also thinks tracking and wheel alignment is the biggest scam in motoring.

It's definitely not. It makes a big difference to stability in handling and braking and dramatically affects tyre wear. Your tyre looks evenly worn though. I'd put the edge wear down to enthusiasm. I do keep the pressures on the high side and like to whang it round corners and roundabouts.
