What's a holiday ?
Currently at my Base Camp in rural Victoria Au. Bikeless as it's still in the Freight Companies shed in Auckland.
Still managing to clock up the air miles. Flying to Perth tomorrow via Mildura and Sydney for a week to see my Boy. Haven't seen him since I was last here February at the start of COVID.
Got a trip to Bali booked for mid May.
Three weeks back in the UK in August.
If the Bike ever turns up then the big plan is to do a figure of eight around the Island. Hopefully start that around October time.

I'm lying low hoping no holiday ideas spring from Mrs.Skub's mind. The best part of a holiday is usually when it's a memory. 8-)

I think I'm safe this year,as we have favourite daughter's wedding in June.

Baby D doesn't want to go to Legoland. What kind of 6 year old doesn't want to go to Legoland? :hmmm:
When Gremlinette was about 5 I asked her if she wanted to go to 'Kikoland' (as we called it, a nice hotel in Lanz. that did an excellent kids' club), or to a quiet agriturismo in the arse-end of Abruzzo that we called 'Mario's Place'.

'Mario's Place', she replied.

'Why?', I asked, surprised.

She looked at me with that earnest look only 5 year-olds can do and replied, 'Cats!'. I'd forgotten about all the feral cats and their mangey offspring that lived on the farm. She clearly hadn't.

Anyhow, back to the OP: got a 5 day adventure to Turin, Novarra and Lake Orta booked for June. Me and Mrs. G plus friends.

Me and Mrs. G are also looking at a week somewhere in July, but no idea where. I did jump on the Tui website to look at nice, lazy beach holidays and was surprised to see that even a week in Albania was rocking in at nigh-on three grand each. :o Nice hotels, granted, but I like to treat myself when I go away.

Might have to look at Mario's Place and go see if it's still infested with feral cats. At least the prices were reasonable.

I might go to Ireland to get some stuff done on the house there. If it gets too hot here I might drive up north and have a few weeks walking and cycling around Asturias. Then again I might do neither of those things and just stay at home, I like it here.

If only Mrs CJ and Mrs Skub could change their mndsets. I love going to new places. Mrs CJ hates all travel with a deep and abiding hatred. I have at least a dozen trips half-planned in my head, most of them will get a veto.

I was on a flight the other day and someone text me asking how I was, so I just sent this picture - it's me in first class, I'd had a hot shower to try and make me sleepy and I was lying flat trying to sleep instead of enjoying the luxury I was sitting in, because when you're fed up jet-setting it's not fun or exciting, it's just a pain having to sit waiting to land and get on with my day.

Air travel is a PITA, and is endured rather than enjoyed. It is the bit at the other end I enjoy.

Rated at 3850 gvw and rwd.
Full water and fuel she's 3820 (handily we have a free weigh bridge at the top of the road)
When I did trackdays with the fazer, tools, leathers, spare wheels, genny etc, had to have an empty water tank or only 1/2 tank of fuel.

I try not to fly these days due to the environmental impacts.

We will go to North Norfolk for a week.

Normandy in June - looking forward to it.
Japan for three weeks in October - hopefully to Hokkaido to see our niece.
Might go camping with the bike for a couple of nights.

Possibly dancing round Stonehenge for the Solstice.
I can't be arsed with air travel anymore, it's very tedious, and I'd rather ride, drive or train somewhere.

Japan in less than 3 weeks time.

4 nights Tokyo, 5 Kyoto and another 9 nights here and there.

Really looking forward to it, hopefully we can avoid the worst of the crowds but not looking forward to the 14 hour flight.

We went to China a few years ago and loved that, although it was an organised holiday, this is a bit different as I’ve done it all myself. We’ve been binge watching YouTube videos to try and prepare ourselves.
