So, we'll live in a country that will sell cigarettes to a 25 year old, but not a 24 year old, in a few years time... I'm not a smoker, never have been, and can't stand people smoking around me, but at the same time, respect an adult's right to choose. What's next? Alcohol? Fast food?

I've given up smoking! (Almost a year now) A few years ago I would have been proper cross about this proposed ban - and everyone would of said "of course you are, you're a smoker".

But actually, no, I'm still proper cross about it. Smoke if you want, kill yourself if it pleases you, but be fully aware of the consequences.

They reckon c17% of the UK adult population smokes? That must be massively down from what it was 50 years ago and that's down to education. I know very few of the younger generation (my kids are in their 20s) who smoke. (They don't really even drink that much FFS). Maybe that last 17% is tricky to pick away at?

Not a fan of banning.

Really, really badly thought through and whiffs of headline grabbing rather than production of any form of workable law. Good news for the smugglers etc. I note though, it's the 'Tobacco and Vapes' bill so maybe the tobacco bit is a distraction?

The smoking thing I was kind of behind them, although did start to question my opinion when NZ repealed the same age walking law, on the face of it there may be more to it than meets the eye.
