The sort of Hat that Ned Kelly wore on his Days off.
These Days folks round here spend a little more time in their air conditioned Land cruiser than on the Brumby.

My usual head wear is a buff/necktube thing, I'm not sure of their usual name.

Off island it's likely to be a lovely Bates waterproof beaver fur trilby.

It gets hot here, I have a big shnozz and a big head. Attractive.
Anyway, I managed to find myself a gert big straw hat, in the cowboy style. Possibly rather more brokeback mountain than some but I dunno how cowboys wear those leather things when it's warm.

Like this anyway.
By the way, anyone else struggling to find something that fits (because almost every hat you see is "one size fits all" FFS) this place is really good

I was in Oz 4 months 1986 and wore an akubra all the time.
Was a prized possession when I got back to UK, but quickly got lost.

About 15 years ago the missus brought me one back.
I was chuffed to bits, but never wore it

I'm amazed that absolutely nobody here wears hats. The sun is berserk.

Edit. The old ladies on the farms do wear traditional hats which cover the face.

I have one :) In fact I just received a new catalog from the company that sells them here in the hope I want to buy another one. IIRC this is their Snowy River hat.

Don't see many wearing leather hats. Usually straw in the Summer & felt in the Winter. I have a straw one that's so large, it's almost a sombrero
