What have you done today thread?

Finally sunny enough to start painting a little bench (it's a sort of Shaker style boot bench with hinged seat/lid). It's green so I bought a can of Cuprinol 'Sage' paint that I thought was v similar. Oops. It's going to look nice though, after a couple of coats. Might do a couple of other things as there'll be a fair bit spare.

Went to the curtains/blinds/paper/paint shop and ordered a new roller blind. (Chatting to the bloke in the shop he was saying the professionals say Farrow and Ball paint is pants and he sells a lot of Little Greene brand to the trade. Not cheap. Worth a try next time we slop a bit of paint around indoors).

Moved more furniture so the wall painting dervish could continue. At the beginning I suggested using one of the rollers, but no, she's painted all the walls using a one and a half inch brush. Hey ho, not going to argue.

I've been battling the sun this week in my new garden shedoffice. After seeing the ceiling hit 40 degrees last week I bought and fitted some radiant insulation (silver bubble wrap), despite much more sun today it only reached 30 degrees which was unfortunately the same temp as the rest of the room which now desperately needs better ventilation. Aircon was ordered about an hour before the weather forecaster told me it was about to get much colder.
I expected cold to be much more of a problem but even when it was 3 degress outside I only needed the heater set to 400W to be warm enough.

Got up at 23:15 and started work at 23:45. Drove to Geneva airport and back. Had time to refil the minibus and give it a quick wash, then back to resort before 5am!!

Had an hour break and back to the office about 6am and will probably be here until midday ish!!

It was yesterday but I got a pizza oven insert for my bbq and made a pizza last night. Have to say it was epic! Crispy base and puffy crust. Being picky I needed more heat to melt the mozzarella better but it was a good first effort. My son praised it too, saying it was the 2nd best one he’s ever had and that is good praise as he rarely compliments anything. I bored everyone by claiming it was because im of Italian decent which I am on my Dads side. Might even dye my hair black!

Dawn of time I think. I wind the kids up about it my Nans name was Rosina and not the usual east end name of Rose. So I refer to her as Nonna Rosina and normally get this reaction

Cut them to size, paint them, then stick 'em to the wall with No Nails, just like the pros do...

I've yet to find a long wall that is sufficiently straight enough just to bung it on with NMN. Little bits, yes, but a long run? Never.
NMN and a couple of strategic screws does the job. That, and liberal use of decorator's cauk once it's on.

As for painting them first. Nah. They come primed, but there's always fettling to be done, so get 'em nice then slap on the paint. I use 1mm shims as spacers which is sufficient to get a bit of paper under the skirting to protect the floor, plus it allows the engineered floor to expand and contract easily.

Ooh! That's another one to add to my 'I have never...' list. I've never been to a car boot sale. (Until recently I'd never been in a Pound Shop either but I insisted on entering the one in Gainsborough (sounds nice...isn't). Came out with a fair haul...none of which cost a pound or less.

Anyways, today I've been for a stroll in the sun. Luvverly out there. Now, it's round 2 of bench painting.
