Any hearing aid users on here?

M-i-L has recently got Specsavers Advance Elite hearing aids. She is 93 and has dementia and doesn't have a phone or would have a clue how to use one. Specsavers brilliantly linked them to F-i-L's phone so he could adjust the volume for her. Of course every time he gets a message, or a call, the poor woman jumps 10 feet in the air!

I'm told you can get remote controls for hearing aids that are a stand alone device and not a phone app and can change the volume to suit current ambience. Does anyone have experience of these? I want to get one that is very simple to use and easy to pair?

Yes, we're still waiting on a callback. I've gone on live chat now but it seems there are no audiologists to be spoken to anywhere!

I don't have Specsaver aids but here's how mine work. There's two ways of controlling them, either via the app or the button on the hearing aid. The button allows the aids to be switched between pre-set modes, for example indoor, outdoor, party. The phone app also allows mode switching as well as volume control. There is a default setting, mode and volume, every time the aids are placed in the charger they return to the default.

I've no idea why the volume would need to be changed on a regular basis. Just disconnect the phone from the hearing aids if it's a problem.

So what we need is a simple remote device like one of these https://www.hearingaidaccessories.co.uk ... -controls/ but the hearing aids are specsavers own make and we're not sure about compatibility and so far it seems specsavers arent either? They're investigating now and will get back to us within 72 hours! TBH I'm pretty shocked the audiologist thought pairing someone's hearing aids to someone else's phone would be a good idea and that was not what they wanted at all.

Go to the bluetooth settings and "forget" the hearing aids.

Sorry, yes we've done that. Its a replacement we need so he can try adjusting them for her and changing modes or whatever it is these things do.

You should be able to link them with bluetooth to control the volume but disable notifications & messages in the phone's bluetooth connection settings.

I only looked in the app settings. I'll have a look in the actual bluetooth settings. Thanks.

Mine are controlled by an app on my phone - which I rarely use. And buttond on the aids
As said above, I tend to set the level and leave them.
