A few years ago I was thinking of doing a couple of track days on the Street Triple,ironically at Oulton Park,but the 'Oulton Park assasin' video popped up so I thought better of it,I was put off by the standard of riding on the video
I've done proddy racing & crashed,but never done a track day,however back in the early 90's a couple of mates & me did a day at the 'Honda race school'at Cadwell.You were put in a group of 4 with a instructor,Mark Phillip's was our instructor.The golden rules were no overtaking & if you came off it was the end of your session.We were less slow than the group in front of us so we slowed down on the straight then reeled them in on the bends.
It was a good,well run,safely controlled day out

Never done a trackway, but called in on one out towards Gt Yarmouth, Snetterton?
It was free to wander in as a spectator, but half the bikes were BSB racers getting some practice. Not for me! The difference in speeds was massive.

I saw what's supposed to be her name when I was trying to find the footage (it sounded a bit forrin) but can't find it again.
Edit: It was up there ^^^ on p1. KFB came up with a possible.

The only track day crash I've had was as a result of someone keeping his mirrors on, and using them to block me as I was going for the overtake. We were heading down past the start/finish at Oulton and I was closing on him as we approached Old Hall. I remember thinking, shall I stick it up the inside? but decided to be a good boy and wait for the exit. As we came out of Old Hall I went to ride round the outside of him, but the fucker moved across on me and blocked me. I should have switched back to the inside and gone past him that way but I hadn't expected that kind of move at all and was thrown by the whole thing. Consequently I was on totally the wrong line (out near the LH kerb as we were heading down to Cascades), didn't think I'd make the corner if I tried to turn the bike so just banged on the brakes, ran out of track, went into the gravel trap and baled out before I hit the crash barriers doing about 10mph. One thing I never understood was telling people to take mirrors off, when I'm on a track with inexperienced people then I keep my mirrors, it's saved me at least once when I spotted a bloke on a green CBR600 coming in way too hot and I pulled to the left instead of tipping in for the right hand bend, if I hadn't he would have T-boned me, as it was I pulled left and he went straight on into the run-off gravel.

Lots of folk come away from the outside line for the straight, then go wide to straighten the corner. The assassin overtakes camera bike and also moves left as the crash rider goes wide. If assassin stayed wide, there may have been no collision.
My verdict is... assassin shouldn't be overtaking when getting close to bend and should have give track space to crash bike.
They'll be a few on here who, when overtaking the gap tightens up, and also, if she didn't apologise to crash rider, that makes her an arsehole of the highest order.

It was absolutely intentional and it was a full on block, on his original line he had lots of space out left. There is a lot of distance between Old Hall and Cascades, if it was a track day I'd have throttled back, let him go and then moved across and taken up the right line for the left hander at the bottom.
I wasn't there, so it's easy to be an armchair expert, but I was surprised that someone would be petty enough to try and block you and then hold you on the wrong line all the way down through the Avenue.
In hindsight what you suggested was obviously an option, but I was just so shocked that anyone would pull a stunt like that, that reason went temporarily out the window.
But taking the positives, I was on my 888 SP3 and the only damage were some scuffs to the pattern bodywork, a bent fairing stay and a dry clutch full of gravel. Could have been a lot worse.

I didn't report him, as I was in the Medical Centre getting treatment for a fractured shoulder bone. But he was told in no uncertain terms what people thought of his actions. The corner marshals saw it all and reported it. What pisses me off the most was I was trying to do the right thing. I should have just stuffed it up the inside.

Trackday riders act badly to what happens.
They're not used to it.
But par for the course, you'll get on your high horse and tell me you know more about trackdays than me.

I freely admit the move took me by surprise and I reacted badly. I should have been prepared. I wasn't.
But then I'm not an instructing God. We can't all be, you know...

I had that at Castle Coombe. I wasn't a novice on track but didn't know that track at all - scared the pants off me the first session, when it happened again in the second I gave up. The difference in speed was terrifying - to me!!
