Never mind all those ropes and crampons, a gentleman's only climbing aid should be a silver-topped walking cane.

Or a bag of chalk. :D (TBH, I'd want the ropes on this one!).

....However, in reality, this is more 'us'. This is the missus 'touching rock', safely roped and I don't know where she put her silver topped cane, maybe it's telescopic. :D

....and finally... :D

(This isn't me, it's a chap called Alex Roddie but I have stood there when doing a mountain skills course at Plas y Brenin, got a pic somewhere with a better sense of the nothingness below for quite a long way  . The Cannon Stone on Tryfan).

We have a saying in our family, first coined by our daughter when she was about 4, referring to something a bit gruesome or scary. “That makes my bum feel funny!” That’s what those pics do to me!😁

I don't climb, but I love a scramble - Tryfan is my favourite mountain - this is me!

Echoing others' comments, fuck that for a game of soldiers.

And that would have been true before my balance failed too.

Did the Adam and Eve thing too, but Sunny's got better knees than me. :D

Rummaging through the pix archive I found this. Look at the big air! The mud on the bike! How far behind the next bloke is!

That was the only time I've been up there when the weather conditions have been perfect for the jump - compare the outfit to my cannon photo 🤣

Every other time the wind gusts have made it a whole lot of nope 😆

I think Tryfan was the best weather day of the week iirc. Got a few pix of us all huddled in a bothy bag for lunches out of the weather on other days. Had to do a trek out to a valley and camp for a night navigation exercise too....fortunately the wind and rain had eased up then too.

Lovely area but a bit 'weathery'!

Thanks for that! I was hoping someone who knew would chip in. That makes sense, as pic 2 was taken first and I was heading down that lovely sinuous piece of road towards the Loch (Maree, as I now know it to be).
