31 miles of ebike joy. Bit wet, very windy but no problems for the mighty Ado.

Where did you go bossman, anywhere near my manor?
Not a million miles away, The Swan Inn at Chappell (Wakes Colne). Nice place and almost under the Chappel viaduct, but the food wasn't great. Plus they had run out of chardonnay and Pinot Grigio so the girlies weren't best pleased! :D
Aaahhh, yes - pretty views.

I'd highly recommend The Three Horseshoes in Fordham, probably the best bistro pubby place within a decent radius of Colchester.

Three transfers today.

First had the wrong time and I couldn’t wait! (His train was 9am but the hotel had 8am so the transfer was booked an hour before needed  )

Second was fine and then I drove to Chambery for a long wait till the third

Pretty sure a VVIP landed there before my transfer. It was total chaos on site with loads of police, customs and no space for the taxis/minibuses

So I parked at the end of the road out of the airport and watched bikes! Including the 8 police bikes that arrived, and then escorted the VVIP away from the airport!

Normally I quite like driving english as I get to chat. But this time it was close to two hours of almost no positivity!! By the time they got dropped off I was ready to jump off a bridge !! Weirdly, it didn’t seem that bad, only as we got closer to the hotel did I work out why I was feeling so bad☹️. Think I might have to do the return next week ☹️☹️☹️☹️

Here’s hoping the office will be a good break from driving tomorrow 🤣🤣

Roll up some cotton wool, plug your right ear.

Tell them you have earwax you're trying to soften, so can't hear anything :)

Bought some paint. Just needed a little pot of white emulsion 'cos got a small stain on a ceiling edge where one of the roof gullies backed up and leaked a smidge + a tin of green to redo a garden bench thing. Ended up spending £56. :(

It's a bit of a BYP because I need about 100cc of white emulsion and the smallest I could get was 3 litres, so I guess a ceiling or two will be getting rollered. *sigh*

(Also the bloke sold me a can of Zinsser Primer/sealer/stain killer. I think they must rub their hands in industrial tins of Glee when I walk in  ).

Oh...then got home to find my car tax is due....

It was to be dry until midday,so I set off early on the Zed. Man,the roads are beyond shit. Farm muck, gravel, seaweed thrown up from the storm and some huge potholes which weren't there a few weeks ago. I also managed to hit a blackheaded gull with the underside of my right arm at around 80. That fuckin hurt!

It was cold too, much colder than yesterday, sitting around 7°so I headed for home after only an hour. Not a particularly enjoyable run out. I was hoping to get the new rubber scrubbed to the edges, but the road conditions made that too risky for my tastes.

Now I need to clean the bike.

Morning prayers. Was met by a couple walking outside the church, they asked if they could come inside. Turns out her grandfather passed away last night, so she wanted to come and pray for a bit. Lit the Paschal Candle and a votive candle for her and prayed with her. They then asked me to pray for healing for their boy as he is a good football player and had hurt his foot. Prayers said for him as well. Then back home to meet a friend with her dog. Have a Holy Communion service at 5pm and then another at 7.30pm, friend is being licensed as Rector of the parish. Wife of a fellow clergyman is in hospital dying, so I'm on call in case I'm needed for Last Rites etc...

Popped into town to pick up a "Wallet" from Barclays that apparently had my name on it.

No idea what it was.

Turns out it was a manuscript for a book I'd written in 1992.......

I'd forgotten that I'd left a copy in the bank when I was sending it to publishers (obviously it got no interest whatsoever).

Nice to have it back, I'd lost all the copies I had from back then. It's shit, but it's nice to have a copy! :D

Has it got spaceships and/or helicopter crashes, I might be interested in reading it if so?
