Identifying a Rukka jacket?
Identifying a Rukka jacket?
I bought a Rukka jacket around ten years ago (utter guess, but it would have been around then), which is still going strong.
I want to upgrade the built-in back protector to a D30 version, but I cannot find the model type anywhere on the bloody jacket, to check compatability.
I bought it at the NEC bike show, so have no email trail to look up and I can't find it on Google image search.
It's fairly distinctive, in that it has a 'squiggly' reflective pattern all over it, that only really shows up at night (thank goodness )
Any ideas how I can identify it? This is only label I can find, which doesn't give me any Google results

Some outlets give the shape and measurements for armour so you can get something that fits. I think Sportsbike shop do that.

Yep - it looks to be the shape of this Forcefield one: https://www.bikestop.co.uk/forcefield-p ... ack-insert, so if I can't get a D30 in that shape, then maybe that's what I'll go for.Horse wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2024 1:33 pm Is there one in there now?

Well yes I was hoping somebody would tell me it's in the right-hand sleeve or something obscure though

Re: Identifying a Rukka jacket?
Aren't most back protectors a fairly generic shape?
non quod, sed quomodo
Re: Identifying a Rukka jacket?
It does look that way, but I like the idea of one the same shape as the pocket in my jacket, so that it doesn't move about - especially at a crucial moment.
I suspect that jackets may have a more standard pocket shape these days, but I've worked out I bought this in late 2013.
(It's only been used for a few weeks of touring a year so is still in decent condition.)

Some size them small/medium/large,so the wrong size may not fit the pocket.

Re: Identifying a Rukka jacket?
I’m reasonably sure this Forcefield is your only choice. Forcefield made it specifically for Rukka jackets of your vintage. I used to have one. While it’s not a lightweight back protector, it’s incredibly well made and far more reassuring than Rukka’s OE armour.Sunny wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2024 2:42 pmYep - it looks to be the shape of this Forcefield one: https://www.bikestop.co.uk/forcefield-p ... ack-insert, so if I can't get a D30 in that shape, then maybe that's what I'll go for.Horse wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2024 1:33 pm Is there one in there now?
Rukka supply D3O, eg:

I think (?) Rukka subsequently changed its back protector shape, and D3O inserts are only available for newer jackets.

That's the conclusion I came to! Thanks for the confirmation!Hot_Air wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2024 9:35 pmI’m reasonably sure this Forcefield is your only choice. One was ordered and arrived a couple of days ago and t'was inserted and test-worn today - as you say, way more substantial than the OE stuff, and while it's heavier, it's not noticeable once it's on. Win
