Get yer motor running

Post by Le_Fromage_Grande »

I've treated the Mountfield to some easy start and an Italian tune up and mowed the grass

Got to free the blades on mine first, always seize over the winter! A soak in some old diesel oil and we'll be good to go...............hopefully!

Mine would need to be an aquatic model if I wanted to cut the grass this week.

I did the same to our scabby old Honda. I did treat myself to a new bruschcutter, another Honda, as the old one just would run properly even with fresh fuel and a new carb. It is 15 to 20 years old so it's done it time.

Same. I've got a big ride-on thing and every year it's a fucker to start when it's been left over the winter. Although it turns over fine, it always needs a battery jump starter to give it that little extra push over the cliff, but even that wasn't enough this year.

I invested in some starting fluid, squirted a bit of that up its chuff, and hey presto, we're in business.

I just dumped fresh fuel in the Hayter, 6 pulls and away it went, bloody thing has been abused to buggery with no maintenance but will not die.

I really should give the blade a tickle this week and put a decent edge on it

Same. The ground here is like sponge, no matter how dry the grass (briefly) got.

Our ride-on would get stuck sharpish

Mine has some cheap copy of a Briggs and Stratton side valve engine.

I've managed to get two cuts on the lawn here, all strimmed and edged as well. I really miss Spain.

Grass means lots of rain. Every rain day is a non biking or BBQ day.

Who needs grass? It's on the Internet

I have no idea why I was breathing so heavy, apart from lumping a 30kg battery around the house!
Yes it's a pile of shit, but nobody wants to steal it and it always starts! First fire up since September btw.
