A few years back I was at a leaving do for a workmate and it turned out he had a real interest in regional dialects and phrases. He told us that at one time (not that long ago) the use of 'thee' and 'thou' was ubiquitous in Northern England - from Irish Sea to North Sea in effect - great swathes of Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cumbria, Northumberland etc. Now the usage is confined to small pockets of Yorkshire and those pockets are shrinking.
